Just out of curiosity - what's the deal with flag Tango waiving two blocked from your signal halyard? Does it stand for "Do not pass in front of me!", or is it "T" for "Torque pride"?
Thanks for the immensely enjoyable construction report.

So. Fertig OT!
Hi Cris
a wonderful model, the details are just creazy! Very nice to see every time new ones!
Hope to see your art in BHV!Regards
Peter -
Hello Friends,
While I was searching for info on the Atlantik 464 Klasse, I ran across these interesting photos taken in Russia. I will show progress on the derricks later today.
Kind Regards,
Cris

Tobias, Kurt and Peter: Thank you friends for your kind words. I admire each of your works as well and I appreciate the enthusiasm and praise.
@wilfried: I do not see how you could possibly be "interfering". I always enjoy discussion which is often difficult to start because I do not write German all that well and the translator... well I can only assume that most members think I am six years old
Bernhard: Thank you for your kind words! The "Tango" is International for "Keep Clear, I am Trawling" Only a few of the images I have show signals in use. (I am sometimes and even then only between me and myself, "proud" of my models but I would never be that presumptuous, with so many beautiful and of much higher quality works on display here :))
-
Hi Chris,
I just remembered Tango as "Do not pass in front of me!" but you are absolutely right It also can stand for "Keep clear; I am trawling", I just looked it up.
As for my second guess, you are more modest than most of us. You wouldn't believe how many modelers hoist their own initials out of pride in their work or just as a little insider joke.

Hello Friends,
Some progress on the forward derrick. And a small baseplate.
Can anyone tell me why in almost every photo I see of this klasse, one anchor is swinging?
Kind Regards,
Cris
@HaJo: Thank you for your praise!
-
Hello Friends,
The first two derricks are installed.
Kind Regards,

Hello Friends,
So, the first set of Rettungsboote I made looked terrible. The second set coincidentally, also looks terrible. But these have the benefit of not looking pregnant. I trimmed a little more than a 1mm from the hull and from the upper enclosure to "slim" the boote down and make them look a little more in proportion to the rest of the ship and closer to my photos and drawings. Despite all of that, a less than satisfactory result.
Kind Regards,
Cris
@Gunther und Helmut: Thank you for your kind words and extravagant praise! Very motivational! I and my modest little trawler are blushing
@Rene: I use pastels that I shave with my knife and apply with a brush. I will be back with better pictures soon that show how to do it...

Hi Cris,
great work - but, where is the fish...... ?
Kind Regards

Hallo Cris,

Hallo Friends of SOLAS,
So, like the main mast and derrick details, I thought I would try to depict the lifeboat davits as accurately as possible. The davits supplied with the model are not accurate, which is not to say mine will be any better!. Here is the progress on my attempt so far. They do not look like much, but they were very "fiddly" to assemble.
Kind Regards,
Cris
@HaJo: Vielen Dank! Ich habe einen Plan...
Herbert: Vom MDK Meister, vielen Dank!

Guten Morgen Cris,

Hi Friends,
@wilfried: Guten Tag, thank you for your kind words and the very interesting link! The "Data Sheets" available for download are quite fascinating and should be of great interest to any modeler of contemporary vessels. I must say, I am having a lot of fun building these extra details that were made available by your documentation. Thank you again!. I am no perfectionist nor a "rivet counter", I just do the best I can to muddle along. Also, congratulations (if I read correctly) on your retirement. After 27 years in Aircraft Maintenance, I would happily retire today. But that is some years away....
Kind Regards,
Cris

-

Hi Chris,

First, thank you all for your very kind words. They always mean a great deal to me. Vielen Dank!
And a little more progress...the two small cranes are shown in the drawings but I can not find a suitable picture. They may have been removed in later years.

Hello Friends,
Thank you all for your very kind words and praise!
I have made a little progress this morning on the nets, the aft derrick booms and some assorted pieces for the deck (spare wire reels and lube drums). Next I will rig the aft derrick and finish up the last few small parts, mainly the fenders.
Now I am off for Poland and Kyrgyzstan for business. I wish all of you a pleasant weekend. We are so excited about BHV!
Kind Regards,
Cris

Hello Friends,
With the last of the rigging and a few small bits (I decided not to do the fenders) the BRUNO APITZ is finished.
Thank you all for reading along. And again, special thanks to Wilfried for sharing the documents that allowed me to detail the ship and provided me with much enjoyable reading and browsing.
Kind Regards,
Cris
Kurt and Werner: Thank you friends for your kind words! Werner I am looking forward to seeing you this October
