Hello Carl,
thank you for your kind words. I find Victoria a difficult but very well designed model.
Ever since I saw a picture of your first build I have been longing to build her so I am enjoying myself tremendously.
I am about 2/3 through the railing A10b and I hope to pull this one off.
I started by colouring the backside black to add some stability to the paper (I prefere your rather thick paper, it reduces the danger of distorting the whole part).
I have decided to cut just 8 segments per turn startig with the diamonds (I tried the other way round but experienced difficulties with the diamonds, there was quite a danger of ruining whole segments.). When I have done one line (diamonds or triangles) I carefully press my finger at it from behind. Where ever I have cut through connections these now will slightly popping up. The cuts are carefully repaired with white glue (UHU would cause a disaster here). After the glue has dried, the next line of 8 is cut etc. When a complete segment of 8 has been prepared in this way I paint it black.
I never thought this would work (and it is a numbing task) but I am delighted to see that it turnes out quite acceptable.
Nevertheless with future orders from Golden Bear I would be quite willing to pay extra for photo-etched special-railings like this one.
Kind regards
Zaphod
