Hallo klebrige Gemeinde,

Rules of the game for posting links and images
Dear glueing community,
for the reason given we would like to stress out the rules of the game for contents and links. Just to prevent that everyone thinks that nothing external is allowed to be shown here at kartonbau.de.
1. Links:
The rule for linking to other content or sites is still that they must not lead to content that is against the (german) law. This means, before posting a link just check with common sense the following:
- is the site a pirate site offering illegal copies?
- does the linked page (not the site!) show any forbidden content or signs (swastikas)?
Then you are on the right way in 95% of the cases. Links getting the answer "No" at this point are likely to be legal!
Example:
If you are linking in a thread to Halinski or Orlik regarding the P-51 Mustang then it does not matter if 25 clicks later a Me-109 is presented with original swastikas. This link is allowed without problems!
2. Images:
Of course you are still allowed to show images at kartonbau.de. However there are a few almost insignificant restrictions:
- The images must not contain forbidden symbols, this holds true for historical images, too! For the law cardmodelling is regarded as playing not as historic research in Germany.
- Images are only allowed to be posted if you are holding the copyright or have the permission of the copyright owner! For images which are copyrighted please add a small note like e.g.: With kind permission of Mike the Photographer.
In most cases a short email to the copyright owner will do the job. You will get the permission if you tell them its not for anything commercial. This is also true for images by well-known publishers and designers.
The same is true for images that show copyrighted material like images and text passages of books.
3. Scans:
Scans are like a red rag to a bull for publishers and are in their focus for written (and payable) warnings. Just this week we had to delete a thread because the copyright owning publisher asked us to. Luckily in this case they did not ask a lawyer to do this.
- For scans of copyrighted material which are not cardmodel kits the same rule holds as for the photos of these materials (e.g. scans of books and magazines)
- Scans of cardmodels are only allowed to be published partly, not in complete pages. The best thing is to even cut the parts so that it becomes clear that "the scan can not be used for building"...or you omit the scan completely and make a photo from an angle. Make sure the scan is low quality like 72 or 100 dpi or alter the aspect ratio.
With kind regards
René
