I would like to react to some of the remarks myself - Eskatee has not asked me for my comment, as he suggests in one of his valuable reactions.
My quote origins from a visit at the mansion of Mr Den Bakker, where I suggested that it might be a nice idea to publish variants of the loco, in the same visit I did ask for the comment on the odd scales, moderator eskatee
About various scales of train models.
    1. The RTM locomotive and carriages (made for the RTM Museum) were meant to be as large as possible, with minimum detail - aimed at children from 8 to 10 years old. The scale mentioned on the first impression was 1:50 - this proved to be a mistake of the designer's, who overlooked that fact that the original was narrow gauge (ca. 1 meter). The real scale is ca. 1:37. Both models are a great success.
    2. The large NS locomotives were designed specially for the Dutch Railwaymuseum. They are aimed at the non-specialist visitors of the museum. I chose the 1:50 scale for the 3737 locomotive because it was the biggest that would fit A4. Of course it is logical to continue this when possible, as I did with the 6400 DE locomotive.
    3. The 1:87 models were of course aimed at specialist builders and railway modellers, who are very happy with them (judging by numbers sold, and e-mail reactions).
    4. Yes, with the omBC the designer took the liberty to 'smuggle' a bit, to fit the carriage on A4 paper. We should not have done that...
    5. DE 6400 in different (German) colour schemes: worth a try, but I expect to sell very small numbers. Not everybody seems to realise that designing and printing, or laserprinting in small numbers, costs a lot of money. However: can anyone help me with a popular colour scheme? Please mail me at zeistbouwplaten@planet.nl. I read German without any difficulty.
