1/33 F/A-18F Super Hornet Modelik 2006-03

When I was preparing to make the ejection seat, I found that the designer was very perfunctory in designing all the facilities in the cockpit. The two seats provided in the kit are also far from the Martin Baker SJU-17 (MK14) actual equipped by Super Hornet, which I couldn't accept. I will use my own methods to improve the details of these parts, making them closer to reality.

I‘ll follow your report with a lot of interest.
I am also building a Modelik F 18, but as a single seater.
It will be my first airplane card model…

Hi Helmut, Thank you for your attention! Actually, I also have the model you mentioned, and I plan to start building it immediately after this project is completed.

Yes, that´s it!
Not from Modelik, but Angraf.

Yes, these two models are both from the same designer: Rafal Ciesielski, and most of their parts and specifications are the same. Unfortunately, the publication of these two models differs by several years, but all the defects are still preserved, and the designer did not attempt to improve them. Rafal is a prolific designer, and his latest GPM A-10 has received high praise.

Hello, Ferrarifan!
Your cockpit interior was worth every second, that You invested - congratulations!
May I ask, what kind of "driving manual" You use in picture #4500? These are the kind of background materials, that would decide for me, whether or not I am going to start a model...

Hi Heiner, thanks! I will continue to invest more time in improving the second row cockpit because the designer has completely cloned the front row, which is not the case in reality, so my workload will be even greater.
My reference book is a Chinese translation, and its original version was published by Haynes by Steve Davies:

What you show us here is absolutely worth seeing!
I won't be able to achieve this level of detail - at least for the time being. I'll be happy if I get the model together at all. But as we all know, optimism dies last.

Hi KaEm,
Before you, I had already searched for the history of this Super Hornet based on the BuNo "166464" provided on the part. According to the publication time of the model (2006), The historical period expressed by this model should be before 2006, so it is likely that it did not have the opportunity to participate in the upgrade plan you mentioned. But it cannot be ruled out that it will have this opportunity in the future

For a new model, you can use ready-made 3D paper decals. As these.

Hi Maps, Thanks! The effect of these decals is absolutely top-notch. I did refer to the photos, but I would rather use my paper to achieve the desired effect. This will allow me to better experience the fun of the entire process.

I spent some more time developing two ejection seats, and I completely gave up the parts provided in the kit and switched to using my own parts. Of course, they all come from different other kits. The current results are very satisfactory to me, they look closer to the real Martin-Baker MK14 (SJU-17).

Hi Zaphod,
I did have this idea before, but later found out that the workload was too heavy and its effect was not significant because the contrast of these words on the real surface of the aircraft was very low, making it difficult to see them clearly from a long distance. So I plan to only add the most obvious parts and ignore the diverse and inconspicuous content. Next, I will try to print the font onto the commonly used decals on plastic models using my own printer.
After multiple tests, I have finally achieved the desired effect.

The pics are very interesting and helpful for me!

Hello Ferrarifan,
to create your own canopy is always a major progress !
Kind regards

I assembled the connection between the engine and the fuselage according to the parts labeled on the L and R, but later found that the depth of the upper and lower colors was completely reversed. Due to the strong adhesive I use regularly, it can no longer be disassembled and can only be continued in this way.

-
I have completed the docking of the front and rear fuselage, and now it has become a stick with a total length of more than half a meter. I have embedded a fishing line in the axial position of the machine head, straightened it, and used it as a benchmark for aligning with the central axis. I have also added two thick cardboard pieces for positioning in a position that does not hinder later construction.
The hump skin on the back, part 24, is marked with lines drawn onto the surface of the part
-
Quite a stick, indeed! Very impressive, and absolutely immaculate - congratulations!

Hallo ferrari

Hi KaEm,
I have to admit that there are too many missing tags in this kit. I only have the ability to add some of the most obvious ones to make it roughly look like it. But you should believe that Chinese spies are very powerful
