1/33 Douglas F3d-2 Skyknight YG-Model

This is a new project I'm about to start, and when I bought this model, I realized that it should be available in digital. The printing provided by YG-model also looks very much like it was produced by an inkjet printer, rather than by printing at the printery.

I just searched the designer's development process for this model, but unfortunately the digital sales link published at the end is no longer available.

My first step is to process the canopy because I couldn't find any finished products for sale from any store. Fortunately, the designer provided refined frames.

The current canopy looks good, but this step is not my final version yet. I will present the final version to everyone in the next two days.

The final version of the canopy is made of resin molds, and its smoothness is much better than gypsum.

Slow update. The right seat headrest composed of two parts 17c and 17d has a simple design but cannot be processed. I decided to replace it with ultra-light clay, and the final effect was quite good. Due to the designer missing the seat belts, I had to piece it together from the remaining parts of the past, all of which were fighters from the Luftwaffe during World War II.

After half a year of rest, I started restoring the production of this model yesterday

Hi Heiner, when dealing with the skin of the fuselage closest to the middle, I did adopt some unconventional techniques, resulting in some unexpected bad effects. Of course, it's not particularly bad either. Next, I will continue to make two engines, both of which have some detailed depictions, and I will do my best to do them well.

At present, I am stuck in a tedious repetitive work and feel a bit restless. The final effect estimate will not be very significant as these parts are difficult to observe on the final completed model.

There are a total of 64 blades, one of which was accidentally lost, but fortunately it is not very obvious.

The diameter of the pipeline is very tight, and there is not enough margin for me to insert the entire wheels. I can only insert most of it and slowly adjust it until I finally have the intake parts ready. Next, I need to make 2 exhaust nozzles.

The device inside the front landing gear door should be a unique structure of this fighter, and the pilot's emergency escape should slide out of the cockpit from here.

I am currently conducting a trial installation of the right engine, although its rear half has not been completed yet. This is more difficult than I expected, and the merging of multiple surfaces is not as easy as it seems.

Both left and right engines have been completed, and when I looked up some photos of real fighter, I suddenly realized that I should change the color for them. I will share with you the effect of spray painting in about one or two days.

By the way, the last photo is of a real plane, not a model.

The outdoor in winter is indeed very cold. I just insisted on spraying them well and quickly went back to my room. I feel that the effect is still worth it.

I am making the landing gears and using heated plastic rods to create a curved shape. I think this should be more able to withstand weight than hollow paper rolls.

I am still working on tires and landing gears, and the black color of the tires is the TAMIYA XF-1 that I sprayed with an airbrush. I used a 5mm wooden sticks to make two rear axles, replacing the original design of the hollow paper tubes, which looks much stronger.
