[GPM] Sd.Kfz.251/1 Ausf.C 1:25

  • After courageously minor parts were dropped, the front axle is done.

Upgrading the front wheel to be steerable was fun.

  • Hello Seo,

I remember these hinges being complicated in a Tamiya plastic model kid I build as a boy - in paper/wire = much more scary.

You did a fabulous job on them, I guess they didn´t shut more closely on a real vehicle !

Could you explain to which end you used the yellow paper (post-it?), I did not quite get the process.

    Kind regards

    Zaphod

Thank you so much for your kind encouragement.

Yes, it is a piece of Post-it. A sticky end side.

I put a hinge to the main body first and liked to glue it to a door that was closed. Initially I liked to use a masking tape but I didn't have one. So I improvised Post-it to hold the door at a closed position.

I did have a plastic model too. I guess it was a Tamiya licenced model, 'Hanomag'. I still remember that it was very difficult to glue a hinge to a back door. I was so frustrated. But at the end, it was done and I loved the model. To me, SdKfz 251 has been 'Hanomag' Recently I learned the meaning of SdKfz and Hanomag.

  • Not much progress was made.

Major building operations were done and minor decoration parts were added here and there.

More than 95% is done. I hope I could finish it in this week.

And then I will move on Sd.Kfz. 7/1.

  • Dear Seo

Das Modell kann sich sehen lassen.

Vor allem die vielen Details sind hervorragend gelungen.

  • I estimated one week to wrap up the Sd.Kfz 251.

    Maybe I was wrong.

Even a pickaxe took more time than I expected.

I still have a hammer, an axe, a shovel to build....

  • Hello Seo,

    nice toolset!

    The sledgehammer looks very realistic!

Also the axe and the pickaxe!

    Great work!

I made mistakes here and there but Sd.Kfz 251 comes OK.

I am also happy to see it.

    Renee,

Thank you very much for your kind encouragement. I had totally underestimated GPM models. They are delicate with a few errors. I am glad to choose a Hanomag as my first vehicle model.

    Wiwo,

Thank you so much for your kind encouragement. Instead of making completely new tools, I decided to upgrade current tools in the GPM original SdKfz design. The Dremel workstation helps me on tool upgrade.

  • Wow, a lot of progress made !

The front tire is very nicely done.

    Very impressive.

Can’t wait to see the completed model.

    All the best !

    Joon Kwon

    Joon,

Thank you very much for your kind encouragement.

The work is almost done with a day work left.

I could finish it tomorrow or Thursday.

And then I will move on to Sd.Kfz 7/2 (or 7/1) to tune up the skill that I have learned from Sd.Kfz 251.

Your mustang needs to wait more. Sorry :D

I really appreciate your encouragements. I needed them.

After adding a few more parts, Sd.Kfz 251 is now done...

  • Congratulations on finishing this great model, your effort paid off!
Especially your patience when doing repetitive parts was astounding.

Now to push you a step further: the next model comes with working lights?
