Hi All,
I would like to ask your help.
Before moving on to driver’s booth, I wanted to complete the installation of all pipes running under the boiler.
however, due to limited information available for me (instruction coming with the print is somehow not detailed enough), it seems like I need to sorely rely on my imagination for those pipe connections.Followings are what I’m thinking and would like to ask your opinion about it.
the lower portion of the locomotive (current status)
my current plan
A: go to the top of the boilerB: coming under the frame towards engine
C: connect the coil and the tank (the one closer to driver’s booth)
D: coming under the frame towards engine
E: connect between two compressed air tanks
F: connect to driver’s booth sides
H: (optional) connect to driver’s booth side
?: TBD, I have no idea. I may just leave it unconnected (?)
yeah,Maybe, it’s not a big deal as those pipes will be hidden under the boiler anyways, but I would like to get your advice to make it more closer to the real locomotive.
please feel free to chime in.Looking forward to your comments

Hi Henryk,
Thanks a lot for reminding me his thread (the link that has all photos properly seen ^^). His work was one of the motivation for me to start the build. Thanks a lot.
however, I found that the piping in his work is not straight forward. So, I decided to go with the plan I had.Starting with installing the pipe connector on the tanks.
And prepare wires and attach to the position.
And painted them in black
the piping is somehow completed anyways,Will move on to the next step.

Made the side wall of the driver’s booth
Fit checkAnd fit check with the back side of the wall
However, after checking the fit and alignment, I found that the dimensions for the side walls are not properly done and it would cause some distortion when the roof is attached.
I’ll take those as the prototype cabin and will make the improved version.

Hi Walter,
Thanks for sharing the song. It reminds me old good memories.
Hi Bastet,
Thanks for comment !
attached the front wall of the cabin.marked the bonding line using pencil and removed paint layer along the line.
Attached the wall using CA glue and let it dry. After a while, CA glue is fully cured and parts are ready for fit check together with the roof prototype.
Mount boiler on the frame first
Attach the back side of cabin (small magnets for better fit)
And put the roof (prototype) on the top
(And fit check)
Looks good.
Will make the roof again with some adjustments

Hi,
just want to say - its a great project, and you work very well!
Wonderful to see ...

Hi Manuel,
Thanks a lot for kind comment.
today, I got the booster shot (the 3rd COVID-19 vaccine).
Sore left arm… a bit elevated body temperature… I’m concerning about the situation tomorrow morning. Wish me luck.
Continued on the roof fabrication.the curvature of the roof.
Found it difficult to make it right.
So, I made a jig to have it properly done.
It seems I used too much paper for this one step process. Hope good final result 🤞
okay, the jig is ready.
the roof is made of two 0.25mm paper sheets (inner and outer). And made slots on the inner sheet to let CA penetrate through and help to keep the shape. The result is good.
and coming to fit-check stage (on the driver’s booth)The gap between roof and the front wall.
Looks good.
now I’m letting CA glue completely dry.
Roof attachment tomorrow. -

Wow, what a wonderful work!
best regards, Manuel -
Thanks, Manuel,
for the side lettering, I’ve been trying to find anyone who can make the decal for it, but I found it super expensive. So, I decided to go with stencil. it is not as neat as decal, but it is the cost effective option for me.
acceptable.
also, applied darker color on the wood strips. The color now looks better

Installed the left lower pipes.
starting with cutting and shaping, checking the fit frequently. It is took way longer than I was thinking.Used 18awg wire. (Of course, with the silicon wire cover)
final fit check.
Paint the pipes.
Installed the pipes.Before weathering.
Applied weathering
it seems the photo upload takes much longer than usual. Maybe too much data traffic between continents during year end season.
Many many FaceTime calls ?Have great time with your family!

Hi All,
It has been busy start of the year and now getting back to normal life.
Will resume Ty2 construction gradually from now on.
Today, Made the pipes on the right hand side of boiler.
Pipes for controlling sandbox
24 gauge wire
Attached and Painted
Pipe holding brackets
Attached and painted
Thinner pipe that will run forward
(don’t know the name )
30 gauge wire
Fixed the location and routing
Painted
Right hand side piping completed
-
As always, great work! I am glad that you are fully involved again.
-
Thanks, Henryk
I’m also glad that I can work on making something in the evening instead of attending endless conference calls.
Moving on to the left hand side piping.
Still don’t know what those are for.
Before the pipe work, accident happened.
I accidentally dropped the boiler and found the bracket for left side spoiler broken.
Reassembled and reinforced with thick CA glue. Hope it holds well.
Starting from pipe brackets
Installed the 24 gauge thick pipe/wire
And continue on two thin wires (30 gauge)
And painted in black
