Hi Joon,
Here I have a nice link to build the Ty2. You probably already know him.
Best regards
Klaus
Hi Ulrich,
Glad to know it is helpful for you as well.
Hi Klaus,
Thanks a lot for sharing !
today, re-started the engine build.
Not much progress today as I spent some time to make the plan for the detail up. Just completed the engine block and upper portion where the valve is in.
a bit shallow from my perspective.
I may remake this portion later.
Made some more progress today.
this is the picture that I use for upgrade
(Captured from the video stream)
made the covers for the piston assembly, adding some details on it.
and also made one prototype of the piston rod covering.
For the rounded portion, made out of thick card board (2.54mm) and created curvy surface by sanding.
Wonderful - weathered and the engine, especially covers for the piston assembly!
I hope we used a Dremel to sand the piston. Do you have one?
Seo by the Bay
Hi Henryk,
Yes, as far as there’s good reference, we can consider to detail up. Let’s see how it goes.
Hi Seo,
I’m using low cost version of Dremel, which is cost effective and surprisingly handy and versatile. I’ll add the picture of it below.
continue on the front shaft cover for the piston rod.
Made some more to select best two.
made the paper roll and completed the assembly.
BTW, the valve compartment cover.
decided to make it again as it seemed too shallow to me.
Took it out from the engine.
and following is the picture of the low cost Dremel tool I use. Not fancy nor powerful as the original Dremel, but it good enough for me to do paper modeling.

HoHoHo, battery powered. Great. I should have one too.
Pure perfection! I really enjoy to see your steemengine grow!

Hi Philipp,
Glad to know that you enjoy the build.
Saturday !
added the small bars and the brackets for the pipes. (Don’t know what the pipes for..)
made out of wood stick.
Added small mounting pipes
Joon,
I still can not tell the difference but definitely your new trial looks great.

Hi Seo,
That’s what I normally hear from others (including my wife), saying “what the hack is different”?
My conclusion is ..
There’s no obvious difference from others’ eyes, but it is hugely different for the guy who makes it. .

Joon,
I just have poor eyes, which means that i've never tried any other model than WWII propeller fighters.
After I finish all the Halinski's, I might try a train one...and follow you.
Please keep on your nice work.

Haha,
Don’t get me wrong, Seo.
It is not your problem.
I also feel the same way when you say, in your construction report, “there’s something wrong,” which I have no idea what you are not satisfied with 😂.
I think that ‘special eyes’.
Every modelers has on their own work.
more progress made
(yeah, it’s still Saturday 😁)
the box on top of steam engine.
Very nice work!!!, Joon.
This is just beautiful! what kind of glue do you use?
This is just beautiful! what kind of glue do you use?
Hi Huesito,
I use three different CA glues, thin (zap ca), medium (loctite 406) and thick (loctite 401). Use accordingly depending on situation.
And also use school glue for the parts that needs slow setting time.
Installed the suspension of front road wheel mount
And applied weathering

Starts to look like Precyzyjny's loc! Bravo !

Yes, Indeed
His Ty2 inspired me a lot and that's the reason why I started this.
I'm still learning from his Ty2 build log.
Kudos to Precyzyjny !
Joon,
you can open steam soon !

Hi HaJo,
Thanks for your encouragement.
Need to install more parts for that.
Thanks !
Hi Joon,
a very impressive work.

Hi Micha,
Thanks a lot and glad to know you like it.
Let's see how it goes.
Hey Joon,
its so amazing, what you show us in your report! For me it is great to see a Ty2/ Br52 grow up, but the way she does, is really awesome.
Your style is so clean and the weathering is realistic, no difference to a original one.
I am glad to follow your report until you reach the end and I will see a phantastic Ty2!
Best wishes!
Matthias
Hi Joon,
again a fantastic job, the weathering gives the engine a very realistic look.
Best Regards
Dieter

Hi Matthias,
Wow, thanks for your big encouragement and kind words and glad to know you enjoy the build. Cleanness I guess comes from my mindset change. Instead of hurrying up to next part, just enjoy seeing the parts built up and finished the way I can agree. The downside is… it takes more time 😅
Weathering is the part that I’m trying to improve. The way I do is not at professional level as you could see but trying to see the big picture and harmony with other parts.
the struggle I got is the reference photos and information that I can consider to apply, but it’s somehow hard to find. Especially the pipes and wires… (it’s hard to know where it is coming from and where it comes to). Anyways, I’m still searching for the resources.
Let me move on and finally compete it someday

Hi Dieter,
I’m very happy to hear you like it.
Hi All,
Sunday it is today.
I spent long time today with my wife’s generous approval. No time limit today !! 😉
Based on Precyzyjny‘a build and other pictures I found, started to add some more details on it.
Made the conduit for the front lights today.
measured the dimensions on the frame and prepared a brief drawing of the pipe size and angle.
Attached on both sides
added the bracket for the conduits
Painted and weathered.
Great, Joon.
Great, Joon.
thanks, Seo !
Added some more weathering before coming to bed.
have a great day !
Made the pipe coming down from the boiler (based on some pictures that I found during googling). I assume it is the pipe for the connection link.
Step 1:
the pipe (some solder wire)
Used small magnet (OD 3mm, 2mm thick) to make the Boulder detachable.
drill a hole on the bottom of boiler.
install the flange and complete
painted and weathered
Thanks a lot! Nice work, I'll use your recommendations.
