Paper Model, Ty2, Angraf, 1:25 - FERTIG

During the construction of Angraf 1:25 Py27, I learned a lot more about building locomotive paper model using LC and airbrushing. While I was researching for the next build, I found a Angraf Ty2 in the box that I wrapped up 10 years ago (around 2009, when I change the job).

Yes, it will be the 2nd locomotive I’ll try to build.

the pages are all well kept and overall in good condition.
However, the instruction is not as detailed as I was expecting and some of the pages are missing.

Luckily, I found the previous construction reports by Precyzyjny: Ty2, Precyzyjny, 2008.

It will be the bible together with the original instruction.

Also, I would like to ask your comments because members here are all knowledgeable and hope you can kindly share opinions for better build.

Although my Ty2 would not be as complete as Precyzyjny’s, but I’ll try my best.

To make my build report helpful for anyone who will make this model in the future, I will try to post the part-by-part and step-by-step progress in this thread.

Yes, I’m trying to make the progress with 1~2hrs / day. But attaching bolts, nuts And rivets... takes longer than I thought.

Anyways, I’ll try to post the step-by-step progress for anyone who will make it later.
Angraf Ty2 is great model but the instruction could be better...

Made both sides of frame.

Scanned and corrected minor capturing error.

Separated into two parts(per-side) and assembled.

BTW, for sure,

Completed attaching about 240 bolt heads at one side of the frame.

Do we call the structure ‘frame’ or ‘chassis’ ... or is there other name for it?

Combined parts together.

Like the previous build, making two locomotives in parallel. One for the initial build and the other with adjustment and fine tuning.

If I understand the question correctly, you are wondering why the original part is not used.

I have the original copy of 2004 version and doing LC.

Yes, it’s a long process for me to scan, capture the parts, adjust sizes for the good fit and do LC cut. I decided to do this way to minimize the stress to my right hand as I have some issue(s).

Anyways, yes attaching bolts, nuts and rivet heads are challenging and very time consuming.

Boiler fit check to determine the boiler support height.

Fixed the boiler mount.

part: 70, 71

Working on the support for the side steps.

part: 61, 63, 65

Having difficulty to set and fix the height of the boiler supports. May need one more day.
overall, part 62 and 64 are shorter than it supposed to be. Adjusting and adding 2~3 mm is needed.

Will see the result tomorrow.

Good question at the right timing.

Yes, it will be painted and today will be the first coloring day.

Prior to paining the frame, attached masking tapes on the places where other parts will be bonded.

Although I’ll do airbrushing, I cannot be sure how long it would take considering the size.

Frame ? Chassis ? or Refuge ?

Hi All,

what is the locomotive vocabulary for the structure that I'm currently working on?

I call it "Frame" and "Refuge" is the name that other many threads use.

Could anyone let me know the difference and the right name to use?

Completed mounting of suspension on the frame. Fixed some imperfection during painting.

Now the frame is ready to move on.
