    Main gun fitted.


    All the parts for this fitted great, the only thing is the kit has no internal formers for the guns. You will have to make one to glue the barrel in place, if not the barrel will have to be cut down and glued on the outside of the casement!!


    With this one I have made it so the barrel moves up and down. To do this I cut a slot in the former I made and the pushed the barrel in. After that just glue a small bit of card to the back of the barrel to hold it, the barrel can then move up and down.
    Using the blast cover as a piviot does away with the need to pin the barrel as it comes through the casement.

    Geschütz angebaut. Alle Teile hierfür passten gut. Das einzige Problem ist, das es kein internes Spantengerüst gibt. Man muß eins erstellen, um das Rohr einbauen zu können. Wenn nicht, muß man das Rohr abschneiden und von außen an den Turm kleben!


    Ich habe es so gebaut, das man das Rohr heben und senken kann. Damit das funktioniert, habe ich einen Schlitz in den Spant gebaut und das Rohr hineingedrückt. Danach nur ein wenig Kleber ans Ende des Rohrs, um es festzuhalten. Es ist dann beweglich. Den Splitterschutz als Gelenk zu nehmen vermeidet die Verwendung einer Achse.

    Going tonight has been slow on the build.
    I have spent the time going over the whole kit and making all the changes at the same time, instead of part by part.


    So down to what has been done tonight :rolleyes:


    I have added another main gun and more of the aft deck clutter. Just a few small parts to fit here and then on to the midships section.


    If you think back to when I changed the aft deckhouse (length) Look at the gap between the aft main gun and the bulkhead behind it.
    I cut out 4mm from the part when I altered it and the gap now is only 2.5mm. So it would not have fit if left un-altered, Iam I glad I did it :))

    Der Fortschritt beim Bau heute Nacht war langsam. Ich habe die Zeit genutzt, das ganze Modell zu überarbeiten, anstatt Teil für Teil zu ändern.


    Ich habe ein weiteres Geschütz der Hauptartillerie montiert, sowei einiges an Kleinteilen auf dem Achterdeck. Nur ein paar Teile hier und da.


    Wenn ihr zurückgeht zu der Änderung am hinteren Deckshaus, schaut euch die Lücke zwischen dem achterlichen Geschütz und der Wand dahinter an. Ich habe 4mm aus dem Teil geschnitten und jetzt ist der Spalt nur noch 2,5mm. Also hätte es ohne Änderung nicht gepasst. Ich bin froh, dass ich das getan habe.

    Construction has been a bit slow as I have a bad case of the flu ;(


    Added a lot of small parts and some of the 40mm bofors, also the mounts for the second set of torpedo tubes.
    The main bridge has been started with a dry fit to see if it all fits, so far so good :rolleyes:´


    Der Bau ist jetzt etwas langsam, weil ich eine böse Erkältung habe.


    Eine Menge kleiner Teile angebaut, und ein paar 40mm Bofors. Auch das Gestell für den zweiten Satz Torpedorohre.


    Die Hauptbrücke wurde angefangen. Eine Trockenanpassung zeigt, das bis jetzt alles passt.

    Tonight I have added the second funnel and the second set of torpedo tubes.
    The bridge has been glued down now I know it fits and now Iam building it up, still slowly working my way forward to the bow :rolleyes:


    The next set of photos just show how much of the build has been done.

    Heute habe ich den zweiten Schornstein und den zweiten Satz Torpedorohre angebracht. Die Brücke ist jetzt angeklebt und wird jetzt aufgebaut. Langsam arbeite ich mich zu Bug vor.

    It's no little feat how well you've gotten though so far on this build despite the fitting problems, etc., mate. :))


    You've done an outstanding job of it, particularly those guns and blast shields! =D> =D> =D>

    I needed to get my feet wet again so I did a bit more on this :))


    It does not look as if much has been done but a lot of small parts and a few more guns have been added.
    With fixing all the problems in one go she is now going together a bit faster

    It comes on a CD from Mike, it does away with the need to scan it and you will need to scan it if you buy the booklet model :rolleyes:


    Iam getting "Nagatsuki" ready to fit the rails and then she is finished.

    Ich mußte mal wieder zur Marine wechseln, also habe ich an diesem Modell etwas weitergemacht. Es sieht nicht so aus, als wenn viel passiert ist, aber viele kleine Teile und ein paar mehr Kanonen wurden angebaut. Nachdem ich alle Probleme in einem Aufwasch erledigt hatte, geht der Zusammenbau jetzt etwas schneller voran.


    Der Zerstörer im Hintergrund ist die IJN Nagatsuki von Mike Krol, Gremitmodels. Es kommt als CD von Mike - daher braucht man das Modell nicht zu scannen -und man würde es scannen müssen, wenn man das Modell gedruckt kauft.


    Wenn ich bei Nagatsuki die Reelinge angebaut habe, ist sie fertig

    Your not wrong, the idea I have is to build a battle fleet for all the big navy's Japan, British, USN, Germany and Italian.
    Each one will have a core of at least three carriers for the RN, USN and IJN and then on down the line for the other class of ships :))


    Well thats the idea, I still have a long way to go on the building though.
    But I do now have most of the kits now, just one or two more to add :rolleyes:

    Da liegst Du nicht falsch. Die Idee ist, für alle großen Marinen wie Japan, Großritannien, US, Deutschland und Italien eine Schlachtflotte zu bauen.


    Jede wird einen Kern von mindestens 3 Flugzeugträgern für die Royal Navy, US Navy und Imperial Japanese Navy haben, zuzüglich der restlichen Schiffsklassen.


    Das ist zumindest die Idee - um die zu verwirklichen, muß ich noch eine Menge bauen. Aber ich besitze jetzt die meisten Modelle, fehlen nur noch ein oder zwei.

    Well I have been doing a bit more tonight.


    The card build on the stern is now finished and just needs the rails fitting.
    These I have ordered as for 5.5 Euros I can get one photo etch sheet of rails, this will be enough to go around the hull with a little to spare.
    I can then spend more time building :rolleyes:


    The midships section is over half done also

    Heute nacht habe ich etwas mehr geschafft. Die Aufbauten am Heck sind jetzt fertig, nur noch die Reling fehlt. Diese habe ich für 5,5 EUR bestellt- Fotoätzreling. Das wird reichen, um einmal um den Rumpf zu kommen und etwas Reserve zu haben. Damit kann ich mehr Zeit fürs bauen investieren. Der Mittschiffsbereich ist auch schon halb fertig.

    If like me you when you fit rails to a ship I like to do two or three ships in one go.
    Don't when you take the other finished models off its safe shelf leave them unattended for two seconds, it can be fatal ;(


    This first photo shows Yamato in 1/250 taken out of her case ready to have the rest of her rails fitted at the weekend.


    Now to look at it not much seems wrong, unless your the one that built it

    Ein kleiner Tipp. Wenn ich Relinge anbaue, dann mache ich das immer bei mehreren Schiffen gleichzeitig. Wenn ihr die fertigen Schiffe aus dem Regal nehmt, laßt sie keine 2 Sekunden ohne Aufsicht. Das erste Bild zeigt die Yamato in 1:250, aus der Vitrine genommen, damit die restlichen Relinge am Wochenende angebaut werden können. Jetzt sieht nicht so viel verkehrt aus, es sei denn man hat sie selber gebaut

    So I had a closer look, mast bent the aircraft handling crane ripped from its mounting ;( ;(


    Out goes the cry what has happened here???


    "Oh says the wife I caught it with a duster and it fell of the shelf", I only nipped to the shop for under a quarter of an hour!!


    The guns came off and my wife tried to fix it and hope I would not see it :rolleyes:

    Bei diesem Foto kann man weiß unter der Hauptartillerie sehen - und dass sie verwunden sind. Also habe ich mir das genauer angesehen. Der Mast verbogen, der Flugzeugkran aus der Halterung gerissen.


    Ein Aufschrei, was war hier passiert.


    "Oh", sagt die Frau, "die habe ich mit einem Staubwedel erwischt und sie ist aus dem Regal gefallen". - Ich war bloß mal eine Viertelstunde zum Einkaufen.


    Die Kanonen waren abgebrochen und meine Frau hat sie versucht zu reparieren, in der Hoffnung ich würde nichts merken.


    Das passiert mir nicht nochmal...

    Drei Stunden Reparaturarbeit, um die Schäden nur am Heck zu beheben - und noch mehr zu tun an dem Rest. Laßt sie also nicht aus den Augen.

    Tried to get the bridge finished tonight until I came to fit the mast behind the bridge.


    If you use the template in the kit for building the mast it won't fit as the photo shows :rolleyes:


    The blue line shows a hatch behind the mast that if used by the crew would give them one hell of a fall to the deck below.
    The yellow line show the mast in contact with the bridge deck, this makes the over sized mast slant at to sharp an angle.


    The mast needs to be half as thick as the template shows, this will then let you fit the platform that goes by the hatch. So if you build this don't trust the templates in the kit!!!

    Habe versucht, die Brücke fertig zu bekommen - bis ich den Mast hinter der Brücke anpassen wollte.


    Wenn man das Bauteil aus dem Bausatz nimmt, wird es überhaupt nicht passen, wie man am Foto sieht.


    Die blaue Linie zeigt, eine Luke hinter dem Mast, die -wenn von der Crew benutzt - ihr einen üblen Fall auf Deck beschert hätte. Die gelbe Linie zeigt wo der Mast ans Brückendeck stößt - dadurch steht der zu große Mast in einem zu großen Winkel.


    Der Mast darf nur halb so dick sein, dann kann man die Plattform an der Luke anbauen. Wenn ihr dieses Schiff also baut, traut den Teilen nicht.

    I got around to doing some more on this, work got in the way :( :))


    The card side of the build is almost finished now, just a few small parts to add.


    I have also started to add the metal fittings, boat davits, depth charge davits for and aft staffs and bridge supports.


    The first ships boat has been fitted and all the guns are now on her.


    The mast problem I have worked out by making a new one from rolled card, this will be fitted tomorrow so I can start the rigging

    Konnte ein wenig weiterbauen, nachdem mir Arbeit dazwischen gekommen war.


    Die Kartonseite dieses Baus ist fast fertig, nur noch ein paar kleine Teile.


    Ich habe die Metallbeschläge begonnen, Bootsdavits, Wasserbombengestell usw.


    Das erste Beiboot ist angebaut und alle Kanonen sind dran.


    Das Mast-Problem habe ich mit einem neuen Mast aus gerolltem Katon gelöst. Der wird morgen angebaut, damit ich die Takelage beginnen kann

    The whole model needs a redesign.
    That many parts don't fit and are out of scale that I think it needs a total redesign to make a detailed kit.


    It has all the basic things required to do this, so I will just use MS "Paint Shop Pro" and "Key Cad 1.01" to change things around.


    Some of the "Fletcher class" destroyers had different deck arrangments, the photo shows the stern of "USS Charles Ausbourne" (the one handed over to Germany as Z6)
    On the stern you will note that it has one twin AA mount instead of the three single mounts on "Leutze" and the depth charge storage is totaly different.


    I will post some photos soon of the major problems with this kit and what needs to be changed :rolleyes:

    Das ganze Modell benötigt eine Überarbeitung. Viele Teile passen nicht, so dass es komplett überarbeitet werden muß, um ein detailliertes Modell zu erhalten.
    Alle grundlegenden Dinge, um das zu machen sind vorhanden, also werde ich einfach Paint Shop Pro und Key Cad nehmen, um Sachen zu ändern.


    Einige der Fletcher-Klasse Zerstöre hatten unterschiedliche Aufbauten. Das Foto zeigt das Heck der USS Charles Ausbourne (später Z6 in Deutschland). Auf dem Heck siehst Du eine Doppel-Flak anstelle der drei einzelnen Geschütze der USS Leutze. Aus die Wasserbomben-Aufbewahrung ist komplett anders.


    Ich werde bald einige Fotos der größten Probleme einstellen und zeigen, was geändert werden muß.

    This is just to give an idea of what I would like to do with this kit :rolleyes:


    This is a screen shot of one of the things I want to do :))


    On the original kit the hatches are just drawn on :(
    so why not have them with an inside and outside, now they can be cut out and left open.
    Also in the shot I have taken out some of the printed ladders.


    All that is left of them are dots to show three fixing points for wire ladders.

    Um euch eine Idee zu geben, was ich mit dem Bausatz machen will, hier ein Screenshot einer solchen Änderung.


    Im Original-Baubogen sind die Luken nur aufgezeichnet. Warum nicht eine Innen- und Aussenseite zeichnen, so daß sie geöffnet dargestellt werden können. Auch habe ich einige der aufgedruckten Leitern entfernt - nur Punkte für die Positionierung sind geblieben.
