Various kind of Koppels were imported from around 1900 to 1930 and widely used throughout Japan
Still now Koppel is popular especially among narrow gauge rail road fans

Today I made remaining two sets of leaf spring
Cut out all parts and painted cut edge black before gluing
Bolts which hold springs are stylene round bar
S-shape pipes are made from brass wire

That is a great question
I also wondered what the purpose of these leaf springs is.
After contemplating a lot, my understanding was that those four bolts at each side are extended to bearing housing of axes through deck and center of leaf springs are fixed on deck. I mean leaf springs are for absorbing axi's vertical shock........

After came back home I have checked positions of leaf spring and wheels, found out the third axis is fixed, and first and second axes have mechanism of vertical movement.
Considering position of spring and axes, I also realized there must be cantilever which connect to the axes.

Today built smoke stack and steam dome
Laminated relatively thin black paper and punched out rivets.
Instruction shows to use 8mm dia. core for rounding up tube but I didn't use it because there I couldn't found out adequate one.

Today's work is door for coalhole and some small parts around there

Today is fourth day of Golden Week holidays. Everyday I can't stop making paper model. I want to stop but my hands doesn't stop.

Made reverse gear - I think it is reverse gear located above the first wheel - and meter

Today's work are valves and front panel for cab
Peel off certain thickness of paper around window and put OHP film in place then sandwich it with obverse and reverse sides of front panel

Thanks Ricardo-san but my build isn't as good as your build last year though I make good use of techniques that I learned in your thread

Today cut out thick paper parts for sidewall and have not glued them yet. I will leave them for you to glue. Please wait for a while until they are ready to be glued

Seeing your inviting model of Institut de France, I can't stop building an architecture model that has dome.

During build I found out that the floor has gap and to fill it cut out small piece of thick paper and painted it but I couldn't make as same color as printed one.
Then made steps and glued them on the places.

Thanks John. I have Berlin Cathedral in hand. It looks very nice but I was thinking twice in building it because somebody has already made excellent one.

What is on my mind these days is that I have less time for model building because of travelling.
This morning came back home and started building some of piping and right side panel and now finished taking long time.

BTW, your handle name reminds me of highest quality Vietnam coffee.
In Vietnam the highest quality coffee is made taking cofee beans out of weasel's bodily waste. Aroma and natural sweet taste is really nice and I, of course, enjoy it while I am in Vietnam

I've decided to plunge into architecture building but am torn between Berlin Dome and Frauenkirche Dresden...
Dresden seems to be adequate for first attempt but printing of Berlin Dome is too nice to dismiss

Today made left side panel
Used OHP film for pane. peeling off thin layer of paper on the inner panel and glued OHP film with instant adhesive then glued outer panel.
Made rivets punching out from laminated black paper bought at office supply shop

Remaining works are rear panel, roof and head light. I want to complete this kit before leaving home

Life is short
I must finish this model as quickly as possible
Today made rear panel and coal bunker

Made lever and glued it to inside of the rear panel. Assembled a square box on which round bar is projected and glued the box at the end of round bar coming through from inside

Next step is pipe for side tanks.
Assembled piep and glued it on bottom of the side tanks

Hi Ricardo san,

Real nightmare is that from time to time it is difficult to turnover rivets to glue on concave side. You can see some of rivets were glued on convex side

Wow ooch!
Oh, 'handbrake' is connected to round bar and it's end is connected to a rod which runs from rear to fore beneath the chasis and the rod is connected to traversing plates and their ends there are brake shoes.
Yes without doubt the lever I mentioned is handbrake.
When I wrote it I was busy thinking about some of parts $'&%().... :rotwerd:

Hi Ric,
I was inspired by your excellent steam locomotive and started my modeling. And enjoyed a lot in building first steam locomotive thanks to your tips that you showed in your thread.

Big difference between train and aircraft is cutting thick card in train modeling that really exhausted me. When I cut those thick card I got stiff shoulder and thought I would never again build train but I have already bought new Koppel kit:D
