Hello,
Since my interest shifted to ships, I stopped construction of this plane and left it more than one year.

Hi Jörg,
Thank you for your information.
How nice it is to see lighting head light in the dusk. I recall a scene in the movie Casablanca. Rick and Ilsa are standing before the plane with its light on in the night.
After the plane took off Renault said "This is the beginning of our beautiful friendship".
Wow!
Usually when I make HALINSKI air plane I seldom look up data because their kits are well studied. I am not sure if my construction report will be of any help to you since you seem to have many ideas to make nice model.
I am happy to know you are enjoying not only construction but also preparation.
I also looking forward to seeing your HAYATE!
Best regards,
hi yu!
every construction report is helpful, because everybody makes the planes in a different way,and has some tricks to share.
especially you, because your models are absolutely fantastic!
im looking forward your report!
Hi Peter,
Thank you. I will do my best making good use of all my technics.
Best regards,
Hello,
Today I made vertical fin
1. Assembled frame for vertical fin.
2. Cut skin for vertical fin. Also cut out top section edges of back side of the vertical fin in order to have perfect fit.
3. Form it using something having round shape
4. Made similar color to the printed color of the skin.
Mixed brown, yellow, white, black, green and tiny amount of red.
Painted it on scrap paer to compare. So so.
5. Paint it on the cutting edges.
Kind regards,
6. Seeing from front
7. glue one end of upper and lower skins.
8. glue other end then glue onto frame.
9. tentatively put it on the tail of fuselage for checking.
Hi Norm,
Thank you.
As was expected, you are really kind person...
Best regards,
Seeing other peoples nicely made models, I have less time for making mine......

Regards,
but your models are extremely nice too... (even with seeing other peoples models)
Hi Peter,
Thank you.
The more I see other peoples thread, the more I found out incredibly talented people. Its really exciting and drive me to make mine following their example.
Today made engine base.
Best regards,

Hi Yu,
Please forgive my curiosity, but whatever happened to this little beauty? Are you still working on it sometimes?
Kind regards,
Norm
I have come back from business trip right now.
I just forgot I was making this airplane because I put it on the shelf. Thank you for remiding me.
In Korea I took Korean barbecue a lot and drunk Korean wine hard though I am not a good drinker. It is their custom to drink together and I had to follow their way. Drink off straight whisky made me completely drunk every night but thanks to alchol and no complaint from my wife I was able to have a good sleep:P I regained my power to make paper model so that I can restart modeling of this plane in the near future.
Kindest regards,
Today made rudder.
After assembling framer, cut out upper part of the rudder. Chamfer edges then glued it. Lower parts consist of two pieces. Shape them before assembly. After glueing two pieces together cut out white colored part.
After all, I love HALINSKI products.
Hi Yu, (japanese: Yes Yu - english: Hello You)
it is always a pleasure to see how good you are with rounding parts...
I have to learn a lot in that regard.
Now, I wonder if the writing on the tailfin actually means anything.
Here in Germany there's a joke that you never know what the sign above the door of a Chinese or Japanese restaurant really means - it could be "Worst food in town" - and nobody would notice....
regards,
Michael
Absolutely excelent shape Yu - my admirations =D>
Michael and bernie,
Thank you for your kind comments

Michael
Hi Michael-san (Yes, Mr. Michael. In Japan we always add "san" when we address somebody. Its polite way)
Thats why I seldom go to Japanese restaurant when I am in foreign countries. Its joke
Generally speaking, local food in each country is the best.
I can't forget the taste of German rye bread I took at an small hotel in near Ulm. It was really nice.
Today made elevator. Shape upper and lower part respectively then glue them together.
BTW writing on the tailfin is "Mutsu". In ancient age certain region of North East Japan was called as Mutsu. Its also the name of IJN battle ship.
Have a nice weekend
Hi Norm and Stephan
Both of you know how to flatter people.
I am awful glad that I provide you big cutting mat at excessively special discount price. Please tell me your mailing address if you want it
Take care
Taking whole day I've made landing gears
As always, Halinski kit fits very well
Now this bird stand with its own legs
It remind me of the day my boys started walking with their legs
Hagen-san thank you
Seeing Martin-san's Hien I recalled I was building Hayate and for the first time in a half year took it out
Today made airlerons
Haven't kept it in a box, color change is significant like natural weathering
I must retouch coloring later....
Hi Yu-san,
You are not in a hurry with this build, but it is looking very good to me. I think it deserves that you finish it, is a precious airplane in the best hands to handle it.
just a note: the ailerons are in wrong position - one must go up and the other down...
but anyway, very nice work.
Hi,
Pawell, I am sure Yu know this ;), now he is only trying the aileron fit.

yep, you're definitely right - I wouldn't dare to underestimate Yu-san like this, but I thought it would be better to note it anyway.
You are exagerating a bit, Pawell 8o. At most, just one of the ailerons is still in the arguably not so correct position :rotwerd:
Thank you for your pointing out and support but to tell the truth I didnt know wrong position of ailerons :rotwerd:
I like modeling but it doesnt always mean that I have specific knowledge on aircraft and ship.
Taking as an example, one of my Japanese friends, who has plenty of knowledge on IJN ship, would pointing out mistakes that I made in building my Fuso. Thanks to his comments I learned a lot so I appreciate your comments on those my mistakes.
That is one reason I joined this forum to obtain not only skill to build models but knowledge on real aircraft, ship, train and etc.
the ailerons are used to roll the plane along the "long" axis - from the physical point of view, it's done by increasing the lift on one side (by turning the aileron down) and decreasing the lift on the opposite side (by turning the aileron up). This means that the wing with the aileron down goes up and vice versa, thus rotating the plane. Of course, this also means that the plane gains a yawing momentum which rotates the plane along its vertical axis (because of change of lift vectors for each wing).
the one who wants can always learn... and it's better than dying stupid...
EDIT: here is a basic introduction to flight physics:
Hi pawell and Martin,
Thank you very much. I became wiser!
Before building engine, made cowling.
Formed narrow skins round shape before gluing
hier nun der Motor von heute
(Is this grammar correct?)
Recently I stay my home only about one week to ten days a month so that when I am at home I cannot stop building paper model all day long without saying something to my wife
And what does your wife say about this?
Great build, and the grammar is also o.k.
Yu-San,
Du schreibst besser Deutsch, als ich Japanisch ! :yahoo:
The radial engine is a masterpiece as usual and also the cowling and of course everything else.
Yours,
René
Hallo allerseits,
Dank für deine netten Worte.
@Helmut-san,
My wife says nothing. My wife ignores paper model. She really ignores my model. But, only once when I built Curtis BF2C1 she said Are you building plastic model? You are supposed to be crazy about paper modeling, arent you. She mistook paper model for plastic model. After all shes nice wife
@Rene-san,
Dont pull my leg I wrote only one German sentence :rotwerd:
Heute habe ich der Motor und die Teile angebracht
Hum... to write German is more time consuming than paper model building....
hi yu,
the engine and the cowling looking great! very clean work =D>!
nice to see that your built go on :).
kindest regards,michael
Hi Yu-san,
The airplane is looking very well to me. The end is now only some little cut and glue steps beyond you.
Greetings.
@michael-san, Lluis-san,
Thank you for your kind words. Since last October I have been traveling around a lot so I have a little time for paper modeling. Remaining works of this Hayate is not that much but I expect perhaps completion will be next month.
@Norman-san,
I do not use Anreibekugel though I saw you introduced it in your thread because I did not know where to buy it.
Thank you very much for your valuable information. It looks worth trying so I will buy one.
BTW, the way I round up narrow strip of skin is rather rudimentary :rotwerd:. Use round bar of various diameters from 1.5mm up. Place skin on finger cushion and press round bar on it to shape skins cross section as round.
Well illustrated Yu!
John
Hi John,
When I was kid my grade point of art class was better than average but I am not so confident in drawing that I get a kick out of your complement 8)
Today made spinner and shaft
Propeller finished
Outstanding! =D>
You are proving that a clean and smooth spinner can be achieved using only parts provided in the kit.
Thank you Michael but I am crazy. I can't stop building paper model whole day
Head rest and gunsight are finished
Me again
Today I spent long time for modeling from morning until small hours and managed to finish canopy but workmanship is not good because hastened to make it
Remaining work is small parts on wings
Hi Yu-san,
I´am speechless......... :super: :super:
kindest regards,
Günni
