Soldatenfiguren in 1:25

  • Hallo Modellbaufreunde,

  • Moin Axel,

    Michael

I have bought two sets for my small diorams :)

I also looked at the Miniforma site, and have been in contact with the guy who runs it.He asks 12,50 each figure and 22 euros if you want them painted.
I'm going to order some American soldiers from him.He should send me a catalogue, but it hasnt arrived yet.

Here are some links to some figure sites.Mostly in 1:33/35 and 1:72
I have also found some in 1:16 and very few in 1:25

  • Hallo Axel,

  • I finished my Pak 40 of the DAK (for details see: Pak 40 (GPM) Deutsche Afrika-Korps)

Because I want to build a diorama, I went looking for figures in scale 1/25. All the figures I found, are either not very detailled, or very well detailed but then they are off course expensive.

The biggest problem is that not a single figure has the exact posture for the figures I neet to operate the PAK.

    I want a figure:

    - standing upright looking through a range finder
    - kneeling and aiming the PAK
    - reaching forward and loading the PAK with a shell

Therefor I decided to build my own figures. The method I discribed in my previous post is nice, but the figures don't look very realistic. Therefor I tried a different method, I first made a skeleton out of wooden sticks, and added paper to get the correct thickness of the legs. Then I added paper from handkerchiefs with a water/woodglue mixture. After painting the trousers (because the jacked goes over the trousers it is difficult to paint afterwards) the the base color, I made the jacked.

I cutted the head of the figure from foam, because it is for me impossible to make a realistic head from paper.

Here you see the heads after a first layer of Enamel paint. After this layer, the ears are added to the heads and everything is painted agein in skinn color

  • Here you see the first figure (who is going to look through the range finder). The trousers and jacked are both in the first two layers of base color and the head is painted.

The hands, the boots (both made from foam) and anklets stille have bo be added.

The clothes only need a wash with a dark color to highlight the deep lying folds and the sharp lines of the pockets, and some dry brushing with a lighter color to highlight all the edges.

Finally all the gear (Range finder, Helmet and Y-straps with Gasmask case, Cooking pot, Ammo pouches and Field flask) of the soldier are added

Most of the gear is already been build (see last picture)

  • Hi,

Again an update of my work on the figures for the PAK 40 diorama.

The first figure is almost finished, because I used the flash of the camera, the figure might look to shiny, but in real, it is not.

After finishing the hands and adding the rangefinder, only a second layer of paint on the boots, straps around the anklets, removing glue residu and some small paint work is needed.

When this figure is finished I will build the two other figures in parallel build. At the end, I will only put the pictures of the finished figures.

I'm looking forward to your comments. Also negative comments are welcome because maybe the figure neets some adjustments in order to make it better.

  • You did some great work with this figure =D> . The proportions look good and the surface looks really like cloth. The only small thing i would change is, the part between trousers and boots. I made a little photomontage so you can see what i mean.

  • Hi Zec,

The anklets are just a piece of cloth wraped around the boots and attached with two straps (on around the boot and one around the trousers). These are used to prevent sand from entering the boots.

I tried to make ankles, but they indeed need some work in order to really match.

Here is the example picture I used for building this figure.

  • Hallo Xander

Aah, OK - i thought, that there are just the trousers and then the boots. So in this case it looks right and good with the anklets =) .
How about making the anklets also outta handkerchiefs? I´m also curious, how you will make the hands and fingers?

  • Hallo Kartonmodellbaufreunde,
