SE 5a / 1:25 / Orlik

Dear Friends!
The next model that I've start to do is Scout Experimental SE 5a-model of the famous british fighter of WW I.
Model was published some years ago by "ORLIK" in "strange" for polish cardboard models scale - 1:25.

And the picture from the producer's site:
http://orlik-models.pl/modele/20se5/se5.jpg
Now-the first ready elements:

Hmmm...strange... I'm trying to built a plane model, and there is some king of..ladder 8| ;)
There are some sentimental aspects of my work - as a little boy i've adored a view of british big signs on the khaki wings...
And the film "Aces high" I've seen in cinema was for me a shock

Hi Mariusz,

what a great choice! I like the Se 5a very much and i am happy to be with you in your Baubericht :) .

You are jumping from 1:33 to 1:50 and then 1:25, but why not? This Orlik-Plane is going to be a

wonderful ( big ) Model of world war I.

So, letzt have fun with old planes :D .

Cheers

Hi Mariusz,
are you planning to super-detail the model or is it going to be out-of-the-box?

Kind regards.

Some new elements added:

There's very interesting idea of bulding that model ; you can find out,how the original plane was built. But at the same time there will be some modeller's trap to meet - I'm afraid... :S
Well - will see... ;)

There comes a little, uncomfortable bench for pilot and a little cogwheel to be operated by left hand ;)

Now the time for seatbelts.Unfortunately absent in the cardboard. ;(
I've been looking for example of them ( vintage photographs), but that is very hard to find...
Any suggestions...? ;)
Kind regards to you all!

The fuselage side covering:

I've tried to make a lace-up of linen covering... :

I've decided to make more visible relief of hathes etc...

...and I've made strings in "fuselage ladder"-but only in the pilot's cabin. ( that will be visible in the end.).

Czolem Mariuszu,

przypuszczam, ze niemal wszystkie elementy, które do tej pory w tym modelu budowales, sa wykonane z papieru (oraz tektury)... Chociaz trudno mi w to uwierzyc. :S
Czym lakierujesz ten model?

Pozdrowienia

Alfred

Hallo Mariusz,

ich vermute, dass fast alle Elemente, die du bisher bei diesem Modell verbaut hast, aus Papier oder Pappe gemacht sind... Obwohl es mir schwer fällt, das zu glauben. :S
Womit wird das Modell lackiert?

Grüße

Alfred

Yes, that model is made in 99 % of cardboard. With small addition of copper wire and silk thread. :whistling: ;)
As I've said earlier somewhere in my reports, the nitrocellulose varnish is what I love to paint my models. ;) :D
The additional advantage of that varnish is dissolving by him the excesses and accidental drops of glue on the surface of model. In my case it's UHU universal.
That varnish hardened glue in model also.

Kind regards to you all!

I've made next 2 frames to put the skin of the fuselage ahead from the pilot's cabin. Together with the frames I"ve made imitation of the front and rear walls of the fuel tank.

And below - the "dry trying" of the next parts before glueing.
