I think what the selected part is useless. Or not? I see photo of the prototype and don't see it. Barrel consist from three parts - barrel brake, barrel and second part of barrel on the gun carriage. Please correct me if I am wrong.

I was thinking if it might could have been some kind of a joint part?
It can,t be a part of the main structure of the barrel, since that part would weakened the structure.
So my guess is that it's a part to be put inside the barrel to connect the two other pieces together.

This model has many small mistakes - for example - expected numbers, duplicate parts on drafts. Part 4 has no folding lines. You must guess about folding lines... =( Some part has no orientation vector... =(
Instruction is extremely short and ugly.
