Me-109 G2 1:33 Orlik

I have now decided to start to build a plane.
I choose the Me109 G2 from Orlik since it's an fairly easy aircraft to start with and the constructor is well known for his good fit.I hope you're not fed up with the Me's.....

I started with the cockpit as I have seen most builders do :)

Here I have put together the main cockpit construction

And started with the interior.....as you can see I added some dirt at the rear end :)

those guns could use some serious boresighting ;)
nice build so far anyway, except for the seatbelts - they're neither well looking neither realistic... check this photoetched detail set from eduard... i can send some more photos when i get home if you're interested...

Yes the guns will be replaced! I didn't notice what you ment first, but now I see :)
The seatbelts even if they look bad.....will be left as they are!
But I'm interested in some photos!! I might be able to use them for later builds!

Another part of the fuselage is in place

I also did the internal framing of the wings

Paint is something I have problems with because of my colorblindness.....
Here is my solution :)

This is 2 liters of paint......I need a teaspoon :)

So over to the plane!
Dryfitting the part after shaping, and I made some connection strips on the inside of each section to be sure it stayed together.

The cover under the cowling

I also made some new machineguns with a barrel this time :)

I also skinned the centerpart of the wings.

So the exiting wings was on turn.....

Here I have glued on the underside of the left wing.

I preshaped the leading edge before gluing the top

The skin is glued on, and the left aileron are waiting. The wingskin had a perfect fit!

Aileron and wingtip are ready

Next side

And the wings are ready

I had to plave the fuselage on the wings :)

In between the wingwork waiting for glue to dry, I did some other smaller work.
The tailwheel and the Air inlet

And the middle part of the canopy and one of the landing wheels....for the moment dusted with desert sand....

it looks like the longitudinal former is visible through the skin on the right wing :(
it's good to avoid using disperse glue for fixing the skin at least at this risky places; glue that doesn't contain water is much better for this - i recommend looking for some kind of chloroprene glue, as it doesn't tend to deform the paper of the skin while it gets "dry". it's quite easy to work with since the joint is strong enough almost immediately but remains flexible for an hour or more... the only disadvantage is that it the solvents contained in the glue (toluene and other HCs) smell like hell... ;)

One of the wheels on the landing gear is ready.I'm not quite happy with the center hub....I have to make some changes to the hub with another part from another kit I have with a better looking hub.

Next was one of the oil coolers under the wings

I also made one of the propeller blades

Some small bulbs was added to the front part

Approaching the final stage.
Now it's only some detailing work left.

Here is the present stage. My plan is to make a small scene on the grass.

The canopy is done. I'm not very pleased with the result.I slipped and glue dots came on the glass.....But it still looks ok from a distance.
