"KRAZ-255b" / Renova / 1:25

Let go to start another build of KPA3 :-)

First impressions: very positive.
- The good material of paper, easy bend, good paint.
- Schemes wholly sufficient, but instruction does not disturb. While has translated on russian only half, on move of assembly think to translate whole.

The Assembly begins with frames.

The Frame - length 34 centimetres that immediately inspires the respect of model.

Frame after painting (3-5):

I am not Nikolai, but I want answer to Bernie :)

In Soviet Army (Red Army) cars has only small black and white numbers in front and in the back on the bumpers. That's all. Soviet Army Police (Voennaya Auto Inspekciya - VAI) have red lines and letters VAI (looks like BAN) on the doors. See Gaz 69 model from Nikolai.

Red stars on the doors, tents, etc - is big American fantasy :)

Nikolai, of course - welcome to KrAZ or KrA3 builders.

Seems that all alternatives of the build are in here now:

JC¨s - clean build - painted edges only
Nikolai´s - painted for new truck
Bernie´s - painted for old truck

Anyone else will join the KrAZ builders on Kartonbau.de?

Wisa - do not worry I did not forget your beta test which caused, that choosed to buy and build :) /thanks for this/

Since I'm start to build, I, get many questions about how will build wheels. I want to begin to solve the complex part of building and now skip engine and other parts and start building wheels.

Wheels of KRAZ from Renova is most complex part on building!
7 pages of model!

While assembly goes on instructions, construction of wheel is very strong - on 1 mm framework circles

Building of wheels with protector pictures.

From the first time,I thought that cut (22x12x7=1848) elements is very difficult and .... very boring :-)

During participation in contest Dishmodels http://www.dishmodels.ru/dishow2005 I has take attention to one prizewinner from plascic 1:35, fail wheels, going in kit and made their with zero by itself, method of casting from epoxy (<-? is this correct termin)

I want to try it!

Now,

- I'm build the wheel and has done on him one strip an picture protecor, which will serve the master-detail.

- as material for form I stop on...the plasticine. Available, possible quickly create the form, also quickly its remake, rebuild in her master-detail, swabbed by sunflower mask that plasticine not barnacles: (1)

Make assembly line: (2)

Epoxy: (3)

I'm added add old good...the tooth powder, heaven knows what this beside me from the Soviet Union years :-). Also may to add gypsum or other composite. (4)

Preparing mass carefully mix and warm about ~50-60C, otherwise, it very bushy and bad fills the forms. (this cost me three days of experiments) (5)

Hi Nikolai!

I build this model too. You write that is an american "fantasy" that russian military vehicles have a red star on doors. But what's about the round red/white symbol with the letters "CA"? OK, only a red star is fantasy but the cars of the russian military in east germany had this symbol mostly at the (front)doors.
On my KRaZ is already build the frame with winch, frontbumper and sideboards. Not much but this is my first papermodel... Not very easy but a great model!!!
