Fuso diagrams

Hi All

Fuso is manufactured by Digital Navy, having done two of his ships I know that the accuracy of Roman's drawings will get me through the build. Mostly it is just patience and one deck at a time. This time I shall try and build each level in it's entirety instead of my usual lets do a bit somewhere else.

Fuso is shown after her 1933 modifications.

I have put an example of the instruction leaflet to show the style lots of diagrams not a lot of text.

gruss

Fuso Casement guns

Hi Friends

Only a little bit done but it is job best done carefully I think. If the hull sides and casements do not line up then it will be my fault. At the moment they line up exactly, but then I do not expect anything else from Roman. So far so good i am impatient to get to the tower but it needs a good foundation.

I added two extra inserts between the formers because the casement becomes very narrow and I think some extra area will help.

Hallo Freunde,

Fuso Casement guns

I am still dry fitting the casement batteries I thought I would show a photo of DN's captive mechanism for the turret location. The parts fit is excellent at the moment.

To give an impression of the relative size Savage is 1/200

Fuso Casement guns

Hi Friends

Very slow progress on Fuso the casements are quite difficult to get in properly most of them revolve but a couple jam slightly but no matter they are in the right place anyway.

The design of Fuso is excellent and as long as you take it slowly so far no problems over the fi of the parts.

gruss

Fuso hull plates and bridge pole mast

Hi All

Finished adding the hull plating to Fuso and since the photo was taken I filed the bows to fit properly (well nearly) and rolled the pole mast for the bridge structure.

The first deckhouse mated precisely with deck tabs and helped too hold the mast perpendicular to the deck.

I always wondered how the bridge was built and apparently Roman is following the structure of the real ship very similar to "Lutzow" after it's refit I think.

This is an extremely interesting build and I recommend it to anyone not in a hurry to finish a model.

gruss

Fuso bow

Hi

Having noticed the gap in the bow in the last pictures and to be fair to Digital Navy here is avery bad picture of the bow after a cleanup, needs another couple of coats of watercolour on the stem line.

gruss

Fuso tower

Hi All

Fuso's bridge continues slowly up the pole.

The third deck is quite a complicated structure and required quite a few internal tabs to locate the walls of the bridge. I glued the bridge sides to the deck of the next bridge then slid the section down the pole and located the walls over the tabs. Then I lifted the assembly halfway back up the tabs and glued them then slid it back down and used 12 fingers and a cocktail stick to finally align the walls.

Still a few more bridge components to go.

gruss

fuso bridges

Hi

A bit more added slowly climbing the pole, after taking the photo of course I noticed the long ladder needed regluing, surprisley it is a really strong structure so I was able to fix it without removing it from the bridge structure.

gruss

Fuso armoured bridge

Hi All

Added the armoured bridge front my advice if you build this model is to form the semi eliptical shape but do not put the former in first, the part has to fit so many white edges and narrow strips. I glued all the mating surfaces at one time then eased it into place by sticking my finger down the tube, then glued the former to the top back edge ten glued the front and gently levered it into place give some more strength.

gruss

Fuso bridge continued

Hi friends

I must admit this structure fascinates me. There are such odd shapes to accommodate the mast legs going through the bridge decks. At the moment most of the decks are not glued until sometime this weekend I will find out if my build is accurate enough for them to fit.

To cut out the bridge windows I painted the back of the part with two coats of pva glue it helps a lot.

Christoph

The steps are indeed paper

gruss

lower mast supports

Hi

Dry run on Fuso's lower mast supports Romans design is very accurate tubes slid straight ito place. They immediately straighten out the strange shapes in the bridge structure. Now I can take it all apart and put in the binonculars etc that will be hidden below the bridge decks.

gruss

Hi Friends

I keep adding decks the top is again not glued under this must go about 16 binocular and bearing stands. On the upper deck there is a large number of range finders etc. It is slowly taking shape.

Hallo Freunde,
