Hafen Kran GANZ 1:25 Eigenkonstruktion

Hallo Kartonbauer,

I would like to present my latest project, harbor crane from Hungarian company GANZ located in Bratislava harbor - Slovakia.
These cranes are used to transfer materials from ships to wagons and vice versa. Primary metal ore.
This is the picture I took from the page of Slovakian shipping and harbor company, to have the overal view http://papermodelers.sk/hostimages2014/O…45K55BH5VUS.jpg
Original crane is 50m high and base is something like 10x17m, so converting into the 25 scale you get the dimensions of the model ;)
Next pictures to follow, please just have a patience with me. Last week my laptop where I draw the model was spilled with coffee and I lost my pictures so I'm trying to find the best way to present you the build. Feel free to write in German, I understand and also can reply in short answers.
For those that are more curious, the model is not onetime action = I'm doing numbering of the parts, assembly instructions, performing beta build by a colleague here link I'm using the 'Polish school' for creating the parts= keine Spanten. If there will be someone crazy enough to publish this model, I will be happy, if not, will be available on ecardmodels.
Not to forgot to mention, that model is created based on the original blueprints provided by the harbor guys, however they are not complete. So I did my best

And in the meanwhile, link to slovakian forum papermodelers.sk to my thread link pictures tell more.
O, got the first pictures, so you can view them here
original crane

I started with the clamshell, the one on the picture is original from the GANZ company

following with 3D model

Feel free to comment and ask.
till then

Miro

Hey Miro,

cool design! I just saw the beta pics, nice work.

I drew a "Kampnagel"-Crane (1:250) several years ago and your pic reminded me of this unfinished business.

Maybe i should continue with my construction, as there are so many ships avalable from this era to complement it.

I'm looking forward to your construction (maybe you can add a 0 to the scale :) ).

Thank you for sharing.

Have a nice day ;)

Lars

Hi Lars,

thanks, will share more pictures soon. No, I won't add 0 to my scale, that will not be a challenge then ;) , because this one really is, from all of the modelling perspectives you can imagine. Stability, dimensions, construction solutions, level of detail and many others. But let me continue with my pictures of the finished clamshell

the last one represents comparison to the Invicta model of the first steam engine in the originally designed scale 1:16.5 and will serve as a reference on some other pictures that will come

Now, lets move to the crane itself.
Will continue with bogie/chassis/carriage, whatever the correct word is.
As usual, some real pictures first

Created support 'I' beams of 4 different legths, short overview

it meant to glue 1280 nuts of 1.5mm size + 640 circles to simulate the bolts
Short introduction to my copy paste factory, work at full speed

and when the workers finished, final products came from the assembly line

yes, only 3, because prototype was used as well, that makes it 4

some preview from the frame completion progress
mid support beam that will carry most of the weight

completion of the frame

and his majesty frame itself, with mid beam already in correct color to avoid double masking during the airbrush

cutting matt below is A3 size ofcourse

Final test of the parts if they fit together, not glued yet

banana box is combination of 2 boxes in order to accomodate the frame, will also rise its rims to cover whole bottom part of the crane.
As you noticed, my reference model Invicta dissapeared as it is useles now. So for the above pictures served radiator in the flat and for the next purposes, it will be interior doors.
Some parts from the top
1. 'small arm' /boomer

length 62cm
2. thin rod connecting small boomer with the small engine room

length 1m

More updates coming later in the evening, till then enjoy.

Congratulations, Miro!
Outstanding build and construction
If you could add a "0" to the scale (1:250 :D )... then it would fit perfectly in one of my dioramas :)

Anyway, cool work on this one, thank you for sharing these pics!

Kind regards

Lars

Hi Miro!
Can you tell us, which models you are thinking of? I am specially interested in auxiliary ships and harbour facilities (scale 1:00, 1:200, 1:250). Military vessels are not my interests.
Regards
Manfred

Hi Manfred,

there is no secret about my next model, which will be published soon
snow plough SP 113
And will follow by various accessories for the railway, obviously scale 1/25. (Teudlof coal supplying crane/lift, locomotive lifter etc)
Reason? Because of the details. I have access to these machines/for some I have the drawings, so I´m using the opportunity to turn them into paper models.
The plan is to continue with czechoslovakian steam locomotives primary produced by Skoda.
Yes, also some military stuff. Will see how it goes. Drawing list is long...
