Flymodel, Lockheed P-38 "Lightning", 1:33

Hallo,

Long ago, I have showed some progress pics on a this forum of this model. Maybe someone saw them? If I am not mistaken, it was in Malo's topic about Flymodel's P-38 preview. But now it is fully complete. It even has a diorama now.
This was a model for our first lithuanian contest (aka "Group Build") and I won a prize. Now I have entered the model to the dishmodels.ru russian contest also. It is called "Dishow 2006" It is a very tough contest, because models in there are so awesome. But still I'm happy to see my Lightning among other participants:

About my model. This is what I wrote for the contest:

A paper model of a P-38J "Lightning". It took over a year with some breaks, due to my studies, to finish this model. I should say, that this model wasn't of the best quality, because you can clearly see some color misprints. The fit was somewhat above average, but I hadn't very big problems. Just some minor seams to be fixed.

As I enjoy detailed models, I made many scratch detalization for interior and wheel wells. Besides, I made illumination for instrument panel and recognition lights with simple coloured LEDs. Furthermore I wanted to make a diorama to station the model on the base. Diorama shows a common preparation in airfield for upcoming flight. The seat was taken out in order to make the underneath detalization visible. Accessories were made from GPM accessories scans resizing them from 1/25 to 1/33 scale. Some parts were scratched and the mechanic was converted from Zvezda's Soviet Assault Group 1/35.

Additionaly diorama gives support for landing gear, because it tends to spread because of the weight of the model, and besides it gives power supply to illumination.

oh, the memories... this was - i think - my 2nd model from Flymodel, approximatelly 12 years ago... and i've never built the rockets...

no need to say that your model is much better with all those details added and built with much greater skill than i had back then...

Congratulations Mindaugas on this model, which I know has been in the works for a very long time. I'm so glad it got completed, and that it got its chance to compete with the very best. Love the diorama and the interior lighting. - L.

Wow, guys! I wasn't expecting such kind comments. THANK YOU EVERYBODY!!

Martin: Mechanic was not covered with varnish. I'm going to do it soon. Then I was just too lazy to do that. Moreover - mechanic looks more like those Warhammer miniatures (tabletop game, that I am interested too I collect armies). I mean, that there are too strong contrasts and colors. Next time (in order to add realism) I won't use such extreme drybrush/wash and will make figure less loud and more realistic to realworld man.
