I just had to have a go at building one of these, since Nobi has shown the sharks teeth I would do the other

As with all nobi's models they are easy to build and great to start any new builder off.

First I started with the cockpit section, I always do this as I like to get the wings on as soon as possible with small planes. gives me somthing to hold on to.
After this the wing spa came next with the ribs after gluing the spa into the body.

Ich mußte dies hier einfach bauen nachdem Nobi das Haimaul gezeigt hat. Dann baue ich das andere.

Wie mit allen von Nobis Modellen, ist es einfach zu bauen und gut geeignet für einen Anfänger.

Zuerst habe ich die Cockpit-Sektion gebaut - Ich mache das immer, weil ich bei kleinen Flugzeugen so schnell wie möglich die Flügel an den Rumpf bekommen möchte, damit ich etwas zum Anfassen habe.

Danach die Flügelstrebe, an die nach dem Anbau an den Rumpf die Rippen geklebt wurden.

Hi all

Thought I would post some photos of the Nagatsuki build that has been in the background tin the Leutze thread.

This model from http://www.gremirmodels.com comes as a CD.

It has very good written instructions, construction drawings and model photos to aid in the build.
The history of the ship is also well covered

If you are going to buy a kit of Nagatsuki I would say to get the CD.
You will need to print extra parts, with some of the parts being very small it is easy to damage them or even loose them

For the size of the ship it is a very detailed model and well worth a build
.
While doing the build everything fitted great and I had no problems with the kit at all.

Ich dachte, ich stelle mal ein paar Bilder von der Nagatsuki ein, die im Leutze-Thread immer mal wieder im Hintergrund zu sehen war.

Das Modell ist von Gremirmodels und kommt auf CD.

Es hat eine sehr gute geschriebene Bauanleitung, Zeichnungen und Modellfotos, um beim Bau zu helfen. Die Geschichte des Schiffes wird auch gut beschrieben.
Wenn ihr ein Modell der Nagatsuki bauen wollt, würde ich empfehlen, die CD zu nehmen. Ihr werdet extra Teile drucken müssen, einige Teile sind sehr klein, es ist einfach sie zu beschädigen oder zu verlieren.

Für seine Größe ist es ein sehr detailliertes Modell und einen Bau allemal wert.

Während des Baus hat alles wunderbar gepasst, ich hatte überhaupt keine Paßprobleme.

Ich denke, die Turmdecken sind gut geworden. Alles was noch fehlt ist die Crew, aufgereiht für das Einlaufen, in voller Ausgeuniform.

The hull work I have done is in 1/200 but would be easy to scale down to 1/250

I will let you know when I have finished it and see what you think.

I love these boats but it is so hard to find a good scale model from any Navy. Its always the battleships and crusiers and not the small stuff.

Diese Boote sind in der Kartonmodell-Welt noch unterrepräsentiert, das sollte nicht sein.

Ich mag diese Boote, aber es ist schwer ein gutes Modell davon zu finden, egal welcher Nation. Es gibt immer nur Schlachtschiffe und Kreuzer, nie die kleineren Boote.

Wenn ich Deine Nachricht richtig gelesen habe, dann willst Du diese Schiffe konstruieren und verkaufen. Ich würde es jederzeit kaufen und ich kenne auch andere, die das tun würden.

This is the one the photo of the stern of the Fletcher class came from.

The other for British destroyers is a very old book and I think out of print.

The book has to be the best one I have ever seen on British Destroyers.

It has 175 photos and over 100 scale drawings taken from Admiralty building plans including guns, torpedo tube layouts and bridge layouts.

Hi all

Tonight all I have done is to fit the rails to most of the ship, the only part left to do is the bow section.
I still have a few small bits to fit and don't want them to get in the way.

Once these few bits are done it just the mast and rigging, then she will be finished.

Next

Heute Nacht habe ich die meisten Relinge angebracht, nur die Bugsektion fehlt noch. Es müssen noch ein paar kleine Teile angebracht werden, die mir bis jetzt nicht im Weg sein sollten.

Wenn das erledigt ist, noch der Mast und die Takelage, dann ist das Modell fertig.

Hi all

This is just to give an idea of what I would like to do with this kit

This is a screen shot of one of the things I want to do :))

On the original kit the hatches are just drawn on
so why not have them with an inside and outside, now they can be cut out and left open.
Also in the shot I have taken out some of the printed ladders.

All that is left of them are dots to show three fixing points for wire ladders.

Um euch eine Idee zu geben, was ich mit dem Bausatz machen will, hier ein Screenshot einer solchen Änderung.

Im Original-Baubogen sind die Luken nur aufgezeichnet. Warum nicht eine Innen- und Aussenseite zeichnen, so daß sie geöffnet dargestellt werden können. Auch habe ich einige der aufgedruckten Leitern entfernt - nur Punkte für die Positionierung sind geblieben.

Der weiße Rumpf läßt das Modell jedesmal hervorstechen, wenn ich es ansehe. Es ist schwer es frei von Fingerspuren zu lassen.

The whole model needs a redesign.
That many parts don't fit and are out of scale that I think it needs a total redesign to make a detailed kit.

It has all the basic things required to do this, so I will just use MS "Paint Shop Pro" and "Key Cad 1.01" to change things around.

Some of the "Fletcher class" destroyers had different deck arrangments, the photo shows the stern of "USS Charles Ausbourne" (the one handed over to Germany as Z6)
On the stern you will note that it has one twin AA mount instead of the three single mounts on "Leutze" and the depth charge storage is totaly different.

I will post some photos soon of the major problems with this kit and what needs to be changed

Das ganze Modell benötigt eine Überarbeitung. Viele Teile passen nicht, so dass es komplett überarbeitet werden muß, um ein detailliertes Modell zu erhalten.
Alle grundlegenden Dinge, um das zu machen sind vorhanden, also werde ich einfach Paint Shop Pro und Key Cad nehmen, um Sachen zu ändern.

Einige der Fletcher-Klasse Zerstöre hatten unterschiedliche Aufbauten. Das Foto zeigt das Heck der USS Charles Ausbourne (später Z6 in Deutschland). Auf dem Heck siehst Du eine Doppel-Flak anstelle der drei einzelnen Geschütze der USS Leutze. Aus die Wasserbomben-Aufbewahrung ist komplett anders.

Ich werde bald einige Fotos der größten Probleme einstellen und zeigen, was geändert werden muß.

I got around to doing some more on this, work got in the way :))

The card side of the build is almost finished now, just a few small parts to add.

I have also started to add the metal fittings, boat davits, depth charge davits for and aft staffs and bridge supports.

The first ships boat has been fitted and all the guns are now on her.

The mast problem I have worked out by making a new one from rolled card, this will be fitted tomorrow so I can start the rigging

Konnte ein wenig weiterbauen, nachdem mir Arbeit dazwischen gekommen war.

Die Kartonseite dieses Baus ist fast fertig, nur noch ein paar kleine Teile.

Ich habe die Metallbeschläge begonnen, Bootsdavits, Wasserbombengestell usw.

Das erste Beiboot ist angebaut und alle Kanonen sind dran.

Das Mast-Problem habe ich mit einem neuen Mast aus gerolltem Katon gelöst. Der wird morgen angebaut, damit ich die Takelage beginnen kann

Hi all

Tried to get the bridge finished tonight until I came to fit the mast behind the bridge.

If you use the template in the kit for building the mast it won't fit as the photo shows

The blue line shows a hatch behind the mast that if used by the crew would give them one hell of a fall to the deck below.
The yellow line show the mast in contact with the bridge deck, this makes the over sized mast slant at to sharp an angle.

The mast needs to be half as thick as the template shows, this will then let you fit the platform that goes by the hatch. So if you build this don't trust the templates in the kit!!!

Habe versucht, die Brücke fertig zu bekommen - bis ich den Mast hinter der Brücke anpassen wollte.

Wenn man das Bauteil aus dem Bausatz nimmt, wird es überhaupt nicht passen, wie man am Foto sieht.

Die blaue Linie zeigt, eine Luke hinter dem Mast, die -wenn von der Crew benutzt - ihr einen üblen Fall auf Deck beschert hätte. Die gelbe Linie zeigt wo der Mast ans Brückendeck stößt - dadurch steht der zu große Mast in einem zu großen Winkel.

Der Mast darf nur halb so dick sein, dann kann man die Plattform an der Luke anbauen. Wenn ihr dieses Schiff also baut, traut den Teilen nicht.

Drei Stunden Reparaturarbeit, um die Schäden nur am Heck zu beheben - und noch mehr zu tun an dem Rest. Laßt sie also nicht aus den Augen.

In this photo if you look at the main guns you can see the white under the base of them and they are twisted

So I had a closer look, mast bent the aircraft handling crane ripped from its mounting

Out goes the cry what has happened here???

"Oh says the wife I caught it with a duster and it fell of the shelf", I only nipped to the shop for under a quarter of an hour!!

The guns came off and my wife tried to fix it and hope I would not see it

I WON'T DO THAT AGAIN

Bei diesem Foto kann man weiß unter der Hauptartillerie sehen - und dass sie verwunden sind. Also habe ich mir das genauer angesehen. Der Mast verbogen, der Flugzeugkran aus der Halterung gerissen.

Ein Aufschrei, was war hier passiert.

"Oh", sagt die Frau, "die habe ich mit einem Staubwedel erwischt und sie ist aus dem Regal gefallen". - Ich war bloß mal eine Viertelstunde zum Einkaufen.

Die Kanonen waren abgebrochen und meine Frau hat sie versucht zu reparieren, in der Hoffnung ich würde nichts merken.

Das passiert mir nicht nochmal...

A little tip

If like me you when you fit rails to a ship I like to do two or three ships in one go.
Don't when you take the other finished models off its safe shelf leave them unattended for two seconds, it can be fatal

This first photo shows Yamato in 1/250 taken out of her case ready to have the rest of her rails fitted at the weekend.

Now to look at it not much seems wrong, unless your the one that built it

Ein kleiner Tipp. Wenn ich Relinge anbaue, dann mache ich das immer bei mehreren Schiffen gleichzeitig. Wenn ihr die fertigen Schiffe aus dem Regal nehmt, laßt sie keine 2 Sekunden ohne Aufsicht. Das erste Bild zeigt die Yamato in 1:250, aus der Vitrine genommen, damit die restlichen Relinge am Wochenende angebaut werden können. Jetzt sieht nicht so viel verkehrt aus, es sei denn man hat sie selber gebaut
