... juhu... ich hab 10.000 $ gewonnen!
Alin,
from looking at the model sheets, this bridge truly seems to look like the real thing. For those of us who are not familiar with Bailey bridges - do you have some info on the original?
Michael
Hello Alin,
thank you for sharing your model. I like it and it looks very real.
Regards
Michael
Hello Alin,
as a civil engineer for me bridges are always worth a closer look - after taking a closer look at your design I have to praise: very well done!!!
And printing the dimension scale on the edge of the sheets is a very good idea too.
Regards
Hartmut
Hi,
Schade, dass die Brücke nicht 10 mal kleiner ist. Dann würde sie gut zu meinen Schiffen passen.
Mit freundlichen Grüßen

Hi Alin,
First of all, thanks for you sharing your model with us.
There is a bailey bridge located very close to where I live.
Each time I passed this bridge I got the desire to build one as a scale model. Until now I did not put to much effort since it looked to complicated. But basically it is quite an easy bridge to build with all these modules. (No comments on the amount of work the inventor putted into the real design and you putted into the model)
2 days ago, I saw your model and yesterday I took the bike again and took some pictures of the real bridge as a reference. When comparing your model with my pictures, I was really stunned @) by your model.
It looks really good.
I'm planning to build 2 bridges. The first will be 3 sections long and will be a demonstration of all the components of such a bridge. It is going to look almost the same as in this first picture.
http://i13.photobucket.com/alb…7/BaileybridgeDiagram.jpg
First section: only panels and transoms
Second section: panels, transoms and the 5 stingers
Third section: complete bridge with chesses and curbs
The second bridge will be in one of my dioramas and will be build as a complete bridge.
Xander
Here some close ups of the connection between the transoms and the panels.
If somebody needs close ups of other parts of the bridge, or even some measurments, please let me know. It is only 15 minutes biking along the canal.
Xander
hallo Xander
wo steht denn die Brücke,- in Holland??
bitte Google Koordinaten angeben wenn möglich

nora
Hi Xander,
Nora wants to know the location of the bridge with Google coordinates. I want to know it either because I want to be sure never, I say never cross this way. I will definetely not trust these rusty connectors where the total tension load of the bridge weight applies. I hope this bridge is closed but if not, a disaster is certain.
Xander, please don't take it personal but I see it as a mechanical engineer.
nora, die Brücke steht offensichtlich in Belgien.
Dear Alin,
Many thanks for you fine model and your generosity.
Best Regards and Servus
René
Hi René and Nora,
The bridge is indeed located in Belgium.
According to my gps receiver: 51°11'12''N, 5°33'55''E
http://www.wikimapia.org/#lat=…7&l=0&m=a&v=2
I was also a bit shocked by the state of the bridge (the underside) since the top, I normally see ;), looks quite oke to me (engineer in apllied physics) The bridge is still open for trafic although no trucks are allowed, only passenger cars.
Further along the canal there is a bigger bridge http://www.gamber.net/cyclebel/kempen.htm with 2 panels stacked on top of each other. I have no idea of the status of this bridge, but I will pay it a visit some where this summer holiday.
