The next model is relatively uninteresting and will be a good brake before attacking something more complicated. It is Merinos Palácio Episcopal de Astorga. It has just over 200 parts, spread across 19 A4+ pages. As usual with Merino, the graphic quality is not very good. In fact, I find this one worse than Merinos average. However, the buildings shape is very original, as anyone would expect from Gaudi!

Hi Ricardo,
I'm looking forward to watching this cathedral develop.
Your appreciation of unique architectural constructions shows.Cheers...John

Hello Ricardo,
I have this one stored away for nearly 20 years an d will be following your thread closely.

Hi Ricardo,
Your previous build was too fast so that I missed the final part.
I think you better abide by the speed limit 8)
I must not miss this thread from the beggining until the endCheers,

No way
Zaphod - 20 years You're most welcome
@ John - It is not really a cathedral, but rather a palace. As a kit, it might be similar to the castle you are building some big parts, a fair share of small parts and not a lot in between -
The middle part of the building is a big box. I should have reinforced the walls with card. The paper walls have a tendency to bulge to the interior, and it wont be easy the glue the other walls without leaving a gap
-
Construction progresses, rather smoothly. The colours are not nice but the fit is good and I like Merinos paper quality.
-
Some of the few small parts on this model go to the chimneys. They are not complicated but add a nice touch to the building.
-
Good looking indeed!!!
-
Thanks, Yu :). Another interesting characteristic of the building is that it starts below the ground level. This is well represented on the kit but it is most advisable to use card templates to shape the surrounding walls...
-
Today, I show the last construction pictures. The shelf method was helpful for the surrounding grass field.
-
And yes, it is complete! Lets go to the usual pictures

Hello Ricleite,
what a beaut !
The colors may be a bit overdone, but the architecture is very fine and your build -as always- is superb. I love the cut-out little ornaments at the roof.

Well done Ricardo!
For me, the engaging feature is the sunken recess for the foundation of the palace with its low retaining wall. Nice.

Thanks for the comments, Zaphod and John
The little cut-out squares on the roof are a bit tricky because they are not printed at the same height, outside and inside. I always glued the outer and inner faces before cutting along the outside marked lines. I had to paint a lot of remaining small white rectangles on the inside. Not very fun but not problematic, either...
I agree, John, the sunken foundation is very original. The main entrance is interesting, as well. It is a pity that the graphic quality is so basic because the kit is worthwhile. -
A lovely model, Ricardo. Perhaps you will have the oppurtunity to learn a program like Photoshop, and fix those pesky colors. Many older models are marred by poor coloring, but otherwise excellent. I hope to learn Photoshop this winter too.

It is surely a good idea, Royaloakmin, but you know how lazy I can be when it comes to modifying a kit :rotwerd: :rotwerd: :rotwerd: -
