Und jetzt kommst du mit so einen schönen Flieger da fallen mir ja die Augen aus den Kopf. Muß Sagen SUUUUPER gebaut.

Thanks for the kind words the kit is a great one to put together the parts fit extremely well.

The canopy is made in 4 parts the 3 front elements and then the main cabin.

I have no vacu form equipment so it is too long to pull in one go.

The plastic is from the boxes left over from Christmas.

I built the paper canopy supplied with the kit and glued a piece of scrap cardboard at the rear to hold the stiff mix of "wall crack" filler (Polyfilla in UK) then moulded the paper whilst it was setting to retain the shape of the canopy. This is then mounted on a piece of wood which is just less than the width of the canopy.

I put on a pair of oven gloves and then hold the plastic over a toaster until it droops then very quickly pull it down over the mould aiming from front to back. I then cut out the paper canopy again and cut out all the windows and glued these to the plastic and then cut the moulding to shape.

The front section is then added to the canopy.

I used a gel glue to fix it to the fuselage and the glazing bars then cleaned up the glue marks with my wife's nail polish remover.

It usually works after 2 or 3 trys the great thing is if it goes wrong you just reheat the plastic and try again. To really get the "bug eye" look it would have been better to use the same mould but produce 2 sides, the roof and the front section and then modeled the plane with open side windows which would have saved a lot of the fitting problems and looked spectacular.

One last note the mould does not have to be beautifuuly finished as there is no vacuum forcing the plastic into the holes or blemishes.

Danke für die netten Worte. Der Bausatz ist großartig zu bauen, die Teile passen sehr gut.

Die Kanzel ist in 4 Teilen erstellt, die 3 vorderen Elemente und die Hauptkabine.
Ich habe keine Ausrüstung zum Tiefziehen, deshalb konnte ich das nicht in einem Stück bauen.

Das Plastik ist von Boxen, die von Weihnachten übrig geblieben sind.

Ich habe die Papierkanzel gebaut, die beim Bogen dabei ist und habe hinten ein Stück Restpappe angeklebt. Dann habe ich die Kanzel mit Füller zum Reparieren von Spalten in Wänden gefüllt. Während der Füller trocknet, habe ich das Papier geformt, damit die Form der Kanzel erhalten wird. Dann wird das Teil auf einem Stück Holz montiert, das gerade etwas kleiner ist als die Breite der Kanzel.

Ich habe ein paar Ofenhandschuhe angezogen und das Plastik über einen Toaster gehalten, bis es weich wurde. Dann wird es sehr schnell über die Form gezogen, von vorne nach hinten. Danach wird die Papierkanzel erneut ausgeschnitten, alle Fensterflächen entfernt und die übrigbleibenden Streben auf das Plastik geklebt. Dann wird das Plastik in Form geschnitten.

Jetzt wird das Vorderteil zur Kanzel zugefügt.

Ich habe einen Gelkleber verwendet, um die Kanzel an den Rumpf und die Streben an das Plastik zu kleben. Die Kleberflecken habe ich dann mit dem Nagellackentferner meiner Frau beseitigt.

Dieses Verfahren funktioniert normalerweise nach 2 bis 3 Versuchen und das Gute ist, wenn es nicht funktioniert, braucht man das Plastik nur wieder zu erhitzen und es nochmal zu versuchen. Um den richtigen "Insektenaugen"-Effekt zu erreichen wäre es besser gewesen von der Form 2 Seiten, die Front und das Dach zu erzeugen. Dann kann die Kanzel mit offenen Seitenfenstern dargestellt werden. Das hätte einige Paßprobleme verhindert und sähe großartig aus.

Ein letzter Hinweis: Die Form muß nicht großartig poliert werden, denn es gibt kein Vakuum, das das Plastik in die Oberflächenmängel ziehen könnte.
