Hello Friends,
I wish to make a diorama with the SLOMAN ALSTERTOR. I think these reefers made by Howalt Deutsch Werft in 1967/68 (coincidentally the same year I was "launched down the slipway") were some of the most elegant cargo vessels ever designed. I found some months ago an account by a former crew member who lists many interesting ports of call. Naturally, I first wanted to recreate Hamburger Hafen in this era. But, after pondering awhile I may choose a Far East or South American port. Hence the strange thread title at this point.
EDIT: Thanks to the suggestion of Der Betreiber, I have settled on showing the SLOMAN ALSTERTOR transiting the Panama Canal. According to Herr Kreuzer, she made this passage in 1970 as part of her Worldwide cruise.
The SLOMAN ALSTERTOR and her sister the SLOMAN ALSTERPARK were the last two vessels of this design produced. The SLOMAN ALSTERTOR was broken up around 1994.
EDIT: Thanks friends for your suggestions and assistance! I would ask the members for any preferences in regards to ports and to provide pictures or links if at all possible.
I will begin construction shortly. At 58cm I may need a larger mat
Kind Regards,
Cris
