Free card model in Marine Modelling International magazine

I have been working with the UK modelling magazine Marine Modelling International to produce a card model of a small ship for them to include as a free model in the December 2009 issue. It is due to be published next Thursday (26th November 2009) and the MMI website already has details (including a picture of the cover showing my model!)

http://www.marinemodelmagazine.com/issue/issue.aspx?cid=4651

The model is of the MV Marwina, a small buoy tender based in Suriname, built in 1999. The model is in 1:250 scale, about 14cm long, fits on two A4 sheets and there is an additional sheet of extra/more detailed parts that may be downloaded from the MMI website.

Please note that I will NOT be selling copies of the model – if you want to get it you will need to buy the magazine (I understand you can order single copies through the website).

Happy modelling!

RE: Free card model in Marine Modelling International magazine

Hi David,

Thanks for tipping us on another surprise from you after the free model which you just made available to us through your website! You are publishing faster as we can build! I just ordered the MM magazine and hope to receive the model soon! A question (as Dutchman..) : is this buoyship owned/operated by the Surinam government or is it based in Surinam and operated by a private company? Or will these silly questions all be answered in the magazine?

Jeroen

Thanks for the reply and kind words about my models. I believe the ship is operated by the Surinam government but information is hard to find about the ship. I found the plans on the archive website of a Dutch shipping magazine - a "Google" should find it easily.

Enjoy the model

David

RE: Free card model in Marine Modelling International magazine

Apologies for the delay - here are some photos of the real ship, the model as supplied in the magazine and the model built using the extra detail sheets downloadable from the magazine site (and some laser-cut railings).
