Unfortunately, I don't know the history for this fine little steeplecab elok, so perhaps someone can fill us in. This is a very nice 8 sheet kit printed on colored papers and designed by Hartmut Scholz. It is in 1:45 scale. You have the option to build it with the yellow or green superstructure. I have already discovered that it is a good idea to spray the sheets with a preservative, as the ink has a tendency to rub off the colored paper. Oh well, next time. I am building the elok in modules, so the cab, the ends and the frame are basically built up and then assembled. The fit so far is excellent, and it feels a little strange not to have to edge color the parts, with a few exceptions.

Most of the work for now is building components and detailing the modules.
-
Work is continuing on components. I am building details and adding them to the modules: frame, cab, and hoods. This will take awhile as i have been traveling during the week. I have added rivets tor a few components to add depth.
-
More work from today. The fit so far is perfect.

Hallo Fred,
sieht schon sehr schön aus - freue mich auf die Fortsetzung

Thank you, Michael. I also have his smalschurmlok mallet. I think Herr Scholz's designs deserve more attention. Rene Blank did a very nice build of his mallet last year.

Hi Fred,
When I spotted your report I couldn´t resist and went to the local dealer immediately to buy this model. Interesting enough my version can be build either in light green or bright red colour. I think I will choose the red - it will make a fine contrast to my yellow Köf ...
Watching your thread with great interest!
Cheers .... Wolfgang

Hello Fred...
This is looking great, and it will be interesting watching this come together. Nice photos showing the steps.
-
Hallo Wolfgang, I think red will look great, and I hope you post some pictures. My only advice is to spray the sheets with a matte fixative so the ink will not rub off. You are spoiled that you have a local dealer... :]
Hallo Peter, thank you, and how are you? What are you building these days?
-
I have finished the cab module, and am working on the ends and frame.
-
Here is some work on the frame components.

Hallo Fred...
I'm fine...... working on a couple of different projects, but at the moment I'm working on a Modelik Armoured Car BA-6 for a group build on a forum geared more towards plastic armoured models. I'm trying my best to convert a few over to the "dark side".. They seem receptive to allowing on-topic cardmodels. Link to my build is here..

Thanks, Peter. Last update for this weekend.

Not too much to report, as I am concentrating on the beta build of Victoria, but some progress.
-
Hi Norm, thanks, it should be finished today, the tough part is the braces for the journal boxes, I ended up with a pig's breakfast. The black paper is not good when wet. I have reallly enjoyed the build, and it would be easy to improve by using wire for the grabs, for instance. I have finished the hoods, and am building the cab steps on the frame. Then the four modules go together and its done. You can see a finished hood and the details on the pufferbuhle.

Hi Fred,
it´s a nice build again! Greetings from here.
-
Thank you, Andy. I hope it's warmer in Berlin than it is here in southwestern Ontario.
-
The four models have been glued together and the elok is finished. My thanks to Herr Scholz for a very pleasant build, and to all my friends who offered support along the way.
-
Hi Fred,
Congratulations, very well done!
I´m looking forward to building this model some day in the future and will surely make good use of your report then.Cheers .... Wolfgang

Hi Fred,
that`s really a nice and cute E-Lok! 8)
=D> =D> =D>Even with the unsharp pictures, your report is a good background and as a result of this I will buy and build the EL-4 (in 1:32) :prost:
What`s up next??
Cheers...Wanni =)

Hallo Wanni and Wolfgang, thank you for your kind comments. I am working on the beta build for HMS Victoria in 1/250 scale. I may do a build thread if the designer is agreeable.
-
Hallo Hagen, thank you. I am working on a beta build of HMS Victoria for a friend. Here is a little preview:
