Dispatch Store

Hello Kartonists, well, I see that more than one year was nothing shown by myself in this section. Time to make it right, time to show.

This time I took idea of present time. I just stood in the middle of old fashioned railway station close to Brno Czech Rep. and took several pictures to catch the spirit of place where in the morning people work hard and over the night graffitti grow.

This is the reality:

- railway and the loading platform

- global view on dispatch store. Looks very tired. Appoint the several types of doors "pull to open" or "slide to open"

- frontal view on warehouse. Here focuss on "cat heads" - big size stone cubes as a road

- detail on road and mixture of waste elements beside the road

Well, not bad for diorama, but what a size to choose? Since I had an empty picture frame of 40x40cm, I choosed this for a size of diorama.
Do you find it impossible to get this in scale 1*25 into 40x40cm size?

I will show you that it is possible including even more elements to have it there :D

This time I will show you the first nearly-finished diorama and then backwards will explain based on your questions how elements were made.

Enjoy - picture taken to beleave me that showing a model - not reality. Next time will fake you with action pictures 8)

Enjoy

Bernie,

This looks really amazing. @) I'm really interested in a building report.

If the diorama was not on the table/grass, I could not tell that it was a diorama.

Xander

P.S. if there are some people around wondering if I'm still building models, since my last post is from really long ago. At the moment I'm to busy with work and being outdoor (biking, hiking etc). Building models will be resumed when it becomes autumn again.

In the mean time, I'm building also a computer controlled milling machine in order to fabricate parts for models (plastic but also paper/cardboard). Especially for my Hawk launcher, since this I build really from scratch and I can use my autocad files of the model directly on the milling machine.

Hi Xander,

thanks for your kind words, but can assure You that everything is made of paper.

As a proove here is the basement of diorama. All done on idea to make and created of 1mm thick paper in different stripe - sizes.

The base idea was to create diorama on relativ small square with effect of several height levels.

- base - picture frame
- diorama´s base - made of paper to get maximum square available for build
- rail level - small area, but here starts the story
- loading platform - arround + 6cm above rail level - large area where the story runs
- warehouse - arround + 25cm above loading platform - attractive to see in respect of colourfull performance
- trolley pole - arround + 50cm above rail level - makes difficult a picture taking, but gives a deep of story. Originally it should be arrond 80cm height to be a basket with lights on top of it, but I have choosed a CUT from top to show that with diorama you can cut the story from the sides as well as from the top :]

Thanks guys.
Bellow you can see the lowest level painted*, dusted, polished or what ever :)
The wall of stones is made of gipsus. It is simple coat of about 5-7mm thick and while getting dry cutted with a nail for stone structure. Before the gipsus gets absolutely dried is the wall grinded with an old teetbrush which gives the final shape to the stones.
The stairs are maid from my own product - laser cutted element. Profiled metal plate design tear drop. This one you can reach at Renova Model e-shop
Dry bush was picked at one of many winter walks around the golf yard Austerlitz :)
Eur palette is free card from Konradus - in section FK

*the base paint applied only on the left side, the right side is finished with adding shadows at paintings.

Dear Yu - San,

please do not put me in position to think, that my works create extra costs for you in purchase of new spectacles :D

Well, the back stage. All the borders of diorama which are "cutted" from reality are coated with "baukleber" build-glue to glue bricks with just a small addition of graphite to have inside hidden glossy points.
This gives an illusion of very heavy model pad made of concrete, which is actually not true :D :D :D

The chimney: The base body of card "coated" with laser cutted bricks, and the pipe is rolled from office paper. While painting and getting dirty I have damaged some brick to get an effect of broken bricks because of getting wet and broken by freeze then. Visible the colour of impurt material which looks like the brick inside when broken.

The "cat heads" under the process of painting with different colour tones. The imput is just the same - laser cut element of myself designed by Mario Severin. Base coloured on grey with aquarel colour, soft coat of very liquid gipsus milk, while getting dry softly brushed to get a typical surface structure. Now under painting.

Enjoy

Hi,

I am allways glad to touch reality with my models, but the biggest satisfaction for me is the story of person watching the model, who finds memories.

Eg one of my frends from Slovakia told me a story of having a short way accros rail store and logging area in white jeans which were at the end very dirty. He told that the wheathering on machine is authentic as well as his jeans were :D

Hello bernie,

Yesterday I came back from hectic business trip and had to take a good sleep last night.
Because of too much sleeping last night I can't get to sleep tonight so came down to downstairs and took out juice from the fridge then turned on computer and happened to find out your thread.
And click @)x10
Did you really make this from paper? ?( ?( ?(
I shouldn't have turned on computer. Seeing this picture will surely cause me nightmare....
I can't make like this even trying hard until the last day of my life.
This must be a real log-loader. It must be... I made up my mind to believe so.... or seeing this in a dream...
Good night...
