Aerosane NKL-26, 1:25

  • Hallo Freunde!

    @Malo

  • Hello,

I am afraid it will be quite difficult to locate this model, neither Moduni, nor GPM nor Slawomir offer it. Perhaps some retailer from the USA ?

    Kind regards

    Zaphod

  • Hello Susie,

Your quest is not hopeless at all. The model was made by Czech company PK Graphica. You will find it at the top of this page (Google translated). Their catalogue number for it is 12, and there is a green light for it, so obviously it is still in stock!

You find their contact address at this link (or this, Google translated). Write to: pkgraphica[at]seznam.cz - that is also what you get if you press the "Request" button for this model, so just go ahead and write to them!

Meanwhile, have a look at this page (or this, Google translated), for another nice build. There is a link on that page which will get you more photos of the model. Also, a Google search for Aerosan NKL-26 will render A LOT of nice pictures and drawings!

I hope you will be successful in locating the model. It was nice to see Josef's old build of it again!

  • That is a beautiful model, fuchsjos. And I like your pictures in the snow also. With your excellent craftsmanship, the aerosane looks so realistic I can almost hear the engines. It was a very clever machine, and would work well if the enemy were always in front. With the enemy behind, there may be a conflict between the machine gun and the propeller!

And Thank you, Leif Ohlsson. I, too have been looking for this model but did not find it. Now I have sent a message to PK Graphica, and am hoping for good results.

  • I'm glad it was helpful, Thomas. Let's just hope that Susie has stuck around long enough to enjoy getting it from the proper source as well. With a welcome like that to a first-poster (from England, no less; not many of you around here, and well wort taking care of a bit better), I wouldn't be surprised if she just did a bit of searching on her own, ending up with a readily available pirate copy, which - as I noted when doing my own search for it - is easier to find than the proper source.

Please note, when building the model, that Josef unfortunately happened to stick the prop on backwards. Can you see it? Compare for the model on the Russian site, which is correct. One of those little mistakes worth not repeating.

And if you build the nice interior (with the big fuel tank, dashboard, driver's seat and steering wheel, plus a first-aid kit) you should of course also install transparent windows between the outer and inner layers of the cabin. Very easily done.

Also note, that you will get A LOT more photos, sketches, and drawings if you Google image search for "Aerosan NKL-26" (as opposed to the name of the kit, Aerosane NKL-26). Something to do with transcription from Russian, I guess. There is a particularly nice five-view painting/drawing here, together with detailed drawings of the M-11 engine, an many other photos. (Although I think the artist here got the prop the wrong, too, this time its direction of rotation; funny things happen when you try to imagine how a prop should be built & mounted for reverse propulsion...)

Thank you, Leif, for your helpful suggestions, and also the link to those wonderful pictures. I am still new at paper modelling, and will accept any help that I can get! :)

Yes, I do see the problem with the propeller, both in the pictures and the model, but it cannot spoil the beautiful work that fuchsjos has done.

It is unfortunate, fuchsjos, that you were prevented by the rules of the contest from transparent windows or open doors to show the interior, but your model is nonetheless superb.

And yes, Lief, the pirates are there, and very easy to find. I am convinced that the only way to fight them is through education. I think that when a person fully understands the situation, he or she will no longer use their services. It is also very good when modellers help one another to find models easily so the pirate websites are not tempting.
